I noticed that the 03-up beta II tiburon comes with Dual Exhaust, Doesnt it make it lose Power??

I have no idea, but why buy a tiburan with a beta motor when you can have a lighter faster Elantra for less money.

Im Not buying a tib, there have been qoutes of lost power with Dual Exhaust on the 4 cyl

I wasnt implying you where gonna buy one, I was saying in general.

well ilan, as you well know, stock exhaust systems arent designed with horsepower in mind.

the way the V-6 tib has dual exhaust, its also a waste. (header primaries all merge into a single exhaust, then split out to two mufflers)

it would be interesting to see a dyno of a beta 2 tib vs a beta 2 elantra stock for stock.

A dual exhaust will lose power if not designed properly. I'm sure that hyundai spent more than enough money testing this exhaust out.

well, they tested it on V6 tibs.

The 4cylinders have smaller diameter piping too.

manufacturers of entry level cars like ours dont usually place much emphasis on little things like " performance " or " power " ... they care more about initial quality and stuff that people who are trying to get into their first new car or a lower cost new car want to see...

I would venture to say that hyundai purposefully under-designed their exhaust and intake systems to save cost.

Ultimately, adding a dual exhaust might not hurt the horsepower output of the engine, it will just add weight to the car.

you were being sarcastic right?

Isn't the claim that about 20hp is unlocked just by adding a good mandrel-bent cat-back on the V6 Tibs? The factory one is just too restrictive. But on the I4, I like the look of the Ark single outlet cat-back exhausts for the Tibs.

My friends ex-girl had a put a dual on a 4cyl Accord once and it increased her HP nicely.. The thing is to make the diameter smaller of the piping..

wow, that english threw me off there buddy

diameter smaller of the piping.

or, smaller diameter piping

or, make the diameter of the piping smaller.

man, you just screwed my head up

I'm under the impression that anywhere the exhaust piping changes internal diameter, like around a crushed bend, or where it splits into two pipes from one, there is turbulence and a disruption of smooth flow.

The tib does put out higher HP when people have swapped the dual exhaust for a single setup.

My bad I was just very busy at work and wrote it really quick...

With the Tib, it's not a true dual exhaust,(not dual from the front of the car to the back) it is a single pipe that splits just above the rear axle into "duals" for appearance. Dual exhaust on small engines make you loose power unless you keep the pipe size down. When I installed my SSA catback, I noticed I lost a little low end power (bigger pipe, gasses move slower), but have more high end than stock. Thats because the catback pipes are slightly larger than stock pipes. Some people with Tib V6's are dumping the duals for a single exhaust setup .

Here is a pic of the exhaust for the 4cyl Tib.

it is the same as the V6, just has the 2 connections on the down pipe for the exhaust headers. I couldnt find specs on the actual pipe diameter

Looks the same as the V6. Not sure if there is a difference of pipe size, but I am sure there would have to be.

If I remember correctly(check me sed) but I thought the v6 and 4 both used the same exhaust gasket. If I could just remember the number . . . . .

That y-joint in the final section of piping is hideous, no wonder a good chunk of horsepower is gained by upgrading to a quality aftermarket cat-back.

Agreed, the air has to reverse itself and go backwards to get out the other side muffler... that's crazy.

Is that from Webtech?

Well my moms got an 05 Tib, and while the car is running, you can CLEARLY tell that the majority of the exhaust comes from the left tail pipe. ONLY when the car is heavy RPMs does the right one start to have a noticible use.

here is a pic of the V6 exhaust, again the only difference that I have seen is the initial pipe from the manifolds its self
