It helps air flow more easily into the intake manifold. Knife-edging the buttlefly plate in the throttle body reduces the turbulance at the back edge of the butterfly as air flows over it. It is also in combination with a smoothing of the throttle body which also helps smooth the air flow into the IM.

I did it too. If you're going to do it, get a dremel or similar rotary tool and polishing stuff, get some 2" wire brushes and polishing wheels and compound and smooth and polish the whole throttle body. check this out: http://www.elantraxd.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2180&highlight=polished.

Ford was also selling pre-polished throttle bodies and intake manifolds if you're squeamish about grinding down your own car's parts... PM him if you're interested. From the pics and data he's posted (and PM messages I've exchanged with him about polishing stuff) he really knows what he's doing.

and for $ 225 for a fully ported IM and Throttle body ... You can't go wrong !

I use OEM parts only ! so from the outside, the dealer can't tell that its modified ! :)

YAY WARRANY !

my dealer relys solely on me. They know i know when a car has been modified to race and the problems and symptoms a car has had if treated wrong.

there are tell tale signs if you race the car or not.

As far as HMA, I don't think they realize the contigent of people out there that are really modifying the cars, so no, they aren't "wasting" their time looking online, like dodge. mitsu and mazda do

Unfortunately not yet.

I need someone to pay in advance for the 04 + IM and TB ported kit.

I will go to the dealer, buy a new IM and a new TB and then port them and ship them out to the buyer.

When the buyer returns the cores to me, I'll have a circulating set that I can keep selling.

:) I guess time will tell if that happens !

Ford, can you describe in a bit more detail how you port the throttle bodies. I have a machine shop bore out throttle bodies and make new butterfly plates to put in, then I recalibrate the throttle postition sensor so the ECU is happy. I have been overboring throttle bodies about 5 mm over stock size. I have only done Kia so far but I doubt it is terribly different. Our Spectra (not the newest ones) started about 56 mm stock, and are about 61 mm all the way through the bore when finished. I have dynoed a 5 whp gain from this mod. The beta engine would probably realize larger gains as I believe your stock TB is smaller than our Kia's, and the Beta has more displacement and probably is starved for air in stock form. Hyundai throttle bodies I have seen from the now defunkt HDK Motorsports were ported before the throttle plate, but the throttle plate was still stock size, as was the bore after the plate. Pictures of products I have seen from other aftermarket companies looked similiar, except in a couple of instances of a completely new casting costing about $300. Thanks for any details you can (or are willing) to provide.
