there is a forget-aluminum piston kit on e-bay, with the higher compression there will be more force exerted on your con-rods, so you should upgrade all at the same time right?

indeed, you should upgrade your sleeves too, the quelch area will take a pounding with higher compression.

who sells sleeves? forged pistons will expand once heated right? So in a cooler climate like canada there will be a lot of clanking until operating temp is reached...that must be bad

as long as you give the engine at least 2 or 3 minutes to warm up before you drive it, forged pistons are fine on stock sleeves.

re-sleeving the engine with nothing but high comp pistons is a waste of time and $$$ ..

there wont be enough of a gain in stress to require such a radical upgrade...

anyway, the most power you will see by increasing compression is approximately 3-5 % per point.

i think of that as a waste of time because anything above 12:1 static will require race gas in most instances unless you retard the timing..

then if you retard the timing, you neutralize any gains you see from the higher compression.


now... throw some longer duration cams into the mix with a 12:1 compression and then you can see 10% or more power gained and you STILL dont need to re-sleeve the block and you still dont need upgraded rods since you wont be revving higher than the stock limit.

The cams I have, and they work well. The pistons I would like to have but if im too lazy to head off to a dyno than im sure way to lazy to pull the head and install pistons.

no, you wont need new sleeves or rods, but you really need to have the engine block out, and have the bores machined to achieve proper clearance for each individual piston
