OK... we've finally scheduled the Pittsburgh Meet...

Saturday, August 6 starting ~12:00 Noon in Boyce Park, Monroeville (just east of Pittsburgh). Feel free to bring cookout-type food as I believe there are charcoal grilles available in the park. After the park, we may split up into packs; some want to go to Dave 'n Busters, others to Hooters, others to the South Side, but we can play that by ear.

Here are the directions, courtesy of cbehage:
Monroeville (http://www.mapquest.com/maps/map.adp?country=US&addtohistory=&formtype=address&searchtype=address&cat=&address=&city=Monroeville&state=PA&zipcode=&searchtab=home)

Take the I-376 W / US-22 W exit- EXIT 57- toward PITTSBURGH / MONROEVILLE

It is right off of the PA turnpike 76. In Monroeville

Then to boyce park Map of boyce (http://www.mapquest.com/maps/map.adp?latlongtype=internal&addtohistory=&latitude=DIEW9GLNKK4%3d&longitude=SUEJmQkSkNc%3d&name=Boyce%20Park&country=US&address=675%20Old%20Frankstown%20Rd&city=Pittsburgh&state=PA&zipcode=15239&phone=724%2d733%2d4665&spurl=0&searchtype=search&q=boyce%20park&cat=Parks&qc=Parks)

Directions from monroville to Boyce park (http://www.mapquest.com/directions/main.adp?go=1&do=nw&rmm=1&un=m&qc=Parks&cl=EN&ct=NA&cat=Parks&q=boyce+park&rsres=1&1ahXX=&1y=US&1a=&1c=monroeville&1s=pa&1z=&2pn=Boyce+Park&2a=675+Old+Frankstown+Rd&2tabval=address&2s=PA&2c=Pittsburgh&2ex=1&2ffi=1&2v=ADDRESS&2g=SUEJmQkSkNc%253d&2y=US&2z=15239&2pl=724-733-4665&2l=DIEW9GLNKK4%253d)

For more information about the meet, see this thread (http://www.elantraxd.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6785).

Please only reply to this thread to indicate your plan to attend so that it doesn't get too cluttered; any other discussions as to what to do, please put in the other thread (http://www.elantraxd.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6785). Thanks!

Man...I just left Pittsburgh a year ago...Penn Hills, actually...Why couldn't I have found you guys back then?

Not to be snotty, but I grew up in Monroeville, and there's like 5 main locations (and any number of smaller ones) where people might meet at Boyce. You might want to be a bit more specific.

Side note to any mountain bikers going: There's some fun trail riding at Boyce. It's not stellar or highly technical, but definitely worth bringing your bike if you want to cruise in the afternoon.

. o O ( Maybe I'll talk the wife into letting me go )

The bike trails at boyce are awesome...

the place we are meeting is easy to find. clear directions will be provided..

i go to boyce every nice day to read and chill.

On a side note:How are you going to get the new ECU program, I'm still very curious about this.

Well not to junk up the thread it's supposed to be out this week. Now seeing as how I will be the first customer it should ship fast. I hope within 4 weeks they could get it to me if I have to pay for some upgraded shipping to make it happen I will. I already said even if the gains weren’t what they "claimed" or what the original poster put up. I would still get it cause it's everything I was looking for in an ecu. A reasonable price with the option of getting the software package and tuning it yourself. And even if it only makes 5extra hp at the wheel it’s better then nothing and since I live in the mountains it will help the car get along a little better.

OK... I've reserved the Hillcourt Pavillion. Once you're in the park on the one road that loops thru, you can't miss it; it's the one with all the white tubes sticking out of the ground all around it at the one end of the loop road.

Here are some fairly detailed directions for those of you coming via the turnpike:

1. Exit the turnpike at exit #57 (Pittsburgh / Monroeville).

2. After you pay your toll, you want to take the leftmost ramp to "Business 22 Monroeville"

3. The ramp will deposit you on the 4-lane Business 22 West. Immediately after getting onto Business 22, you want to take the right on to Route 48 North at the first light.

4. You'll stay straight on 48 for about 1/2 mile through two intersections. You'll pass through a light on 48, stay straight.

5. You'll then come to a stopsign on your way down a hill at Duff Road. There's a sign pointing to your right for Boyce Park -- DO NOT GO RIGHT ON DUFF ROAD; it's bumpy and very poorly marked. Continue straight through the intersection at Duff road and continue down the hill.

6. About 1/10 mile further, the road splits where it effectlively dead ends into Center Road -- you want to take the Y to the right and proceed onto Center Road.

7. You'll proceed about 1/2 mile, passing "O'Block" playground on your right. At the crest of the hill, there's an entrance with a sign to Boyce Park on your right. Turn Right to enter the park then go right on the loop road.

8. The road pretty much dead-ends at the Hillcrest shelter where all the strange white tubes are sticking out of the ground. The park road is pretty much a "C" shape, so if you get lost, just go the other way around the loop and you'll get there eventually.

If anyone gets lost on their way, I'll take my cellphone with me and have it turned on during the morning of August 6th. Call me at 412-225-0321 on the day of the event if you get lost.

Jim (Kylemorg)

Also, I can probably put up one person on the night before or after the event if necessary -- I just have to check with the wife. If it means the difference of someone coming or not, PM me and let me know and I'll check with "She who must be obeyed."

cool. finally a pgh meet. at least one that i've noticed. just got my elantra, beat up and ready for restoration. but maybe I'll show up with my tib just to meet the elantra crowd. the tib is beat to hell, dont want to upkeep the body kit because of pending legal issues, but it used to look good. moving into my new house but im sure i can squeeze in the time to show up for a little while.
hope to see you guys there.

anyone have opinions on the GUDE turbo. thinking about it for my first upgrade to my elantra.

if anyone wants to see my tib before the road rash and the damage the edgeworth police caused to the rear bumper. click here...

http://www.evofusionusa.com/TeamSR/Hyundai/00tiburon-cuda2kit.html

yeah yeah....I know. but I got a great price on the kit and it got pics of my ride on a nationally known aftermarket site for hyundai parts...
and I have only had minimal problems with Brad.

(anyone from pittsburgh might notice that the pics are up at the west end overlook)

yamaha

07-31-2005, 10:58 PM
Thanks. not to hijack the thread, but I am looking forward to tuning the elantra. the tib is just a pain cause of the MAF. plus my car has lots and lots of problems. problems I am not legally allowed to discuss yet. cant wait to start researching my elantra, starting with suspension work. the gls just doesnt handle like a tib. anyone going to pittsburgh import fusion? just in case I am to busy moving to make it. anyone interested in starting a hyundai "convoy" to it please email me.

once again...sorry for the hijack. its hard not to add extra stuff when your new to a board and lookin to make friends. :)

Yes, it's a very easy park to get to. It's only ~3 miles from the Monroeville Pennsylvania Turnpike exit. If anyone has trouble getting there, I will have my cell phone with me and turned on, so if you get lost, call and I (or Onelove5683, who's also familiar with the Monroeville, PA area) can either direct you to the park or come and find you.

I live in an apt complex and when you aren't home they leave a note on the door and the package at the office, so it should have been here. Oh wells I guess.

I had a great time today at the meet!

We had 15 Hyundais (not counting the random guy in an XD who stopped for a minute). I didn't get a head count, but I think there were about 20 or so people there... We also had plenty of good food. The weather was great... not too hot, not too humid...

Keyan put his "new, yet strangely familiar" wheels on, Evan chopped someone's antenna (Yamaha's I think), and I trimmed 04GTboyVA cargo cover with a dremel. (he had fitment issues after installing a rear strut bar)

Anyone who wasn't there missed a great meet!
