Just wanted to give you all a heads up that Evo Fusion now has a carbon fiber hood for the 01-03 4 door and 5 door. $445 plus $75 for shipping. Check it out on the site.

i would still like an invader CF hood...but nobody is willing to make them...i dont know why SR when through the whole voting process if they werent even going to follow through with what people said they wanted...makes no sense to me!

If they would ship my headers to me, instead of making me wait 3 weeks I might consider this.
Carbon Fiber has my attention, but the high price(expected for CF) doesn't, especially for an OEM-style hood.
I'd waiting for pics and hopefully an honest measurement of how much it weighs compared to the stock hood. Probably won't be much of a performance upgrade in a stock XD.

I noticed the CF hood they're selling a few days ago. I'm not interested in replacing my OEM hood with a OEM looking CF one, unless they're doing custom colored CF for that price, and even then that's not that great.
I'm with only1db, we need something unique, preferably functional(vented or a scoop) and *not* an OEM looking replacement.
And again, why the hell did they do a vote on styles if they aren't going to follow through?

For those of you who originally got the CF hoods made for the 01-03, have you had to install hood pins to keep the hood from rattling at highway speeds? My cousin got a CF hood for his 626 and he ended up having to install hood pins, which I am not big on. Plus most CF hoods I've seen doesn't fit like OEM.

These could possibly be the same ones as during the original GB back in the day. Who knows... and maybe they are still looking into making their own vented one? I don't know.
I know a couple of the original GB people didn't need hoodpins (me and Tor drove to Canada and back with no problems). I agree, hoodpins are eww.

I wish they had one for the 04+'s, is the fitment too far off to make it work?

Considering that the front end has different headlights and grill, it would assume that it would be too much work to try and make the fitment work. I'm sure the 04's will come out eventually...wasn't someone looking for a test car in So Cal?

I have read several times from various sources about carbon fiber hoods cracking for various reasons. My question is why this happens? If the hood is made of solid woven carbon fiber wouldnt it be almost impossible to "crack" it? I'd figure it would be extremely strong and simply bend under high stress... am i way off base here?

What did you think of the fitment of the original? Were there any large, noticeable gaps? Also, when you drove at highway speeds, at any time did it feel different from having the stock hood on?

The fitment was good. The gaps were even all around, and maybe a 1/4" larger than the stock gaps (which I here is normal for most aftermarket hoods).
I wasn't doing any of the driving, so I don't know if it felt different, but at no point did it feel or look like it was going to fly off or anything. And we were going in excess of 95 MPH at some points.

Has anyone here bought the VSII CF hood? I really want to get this....I am for sure getting it at the beginning of August (knock on wood). I just want to know if anyone has any tips for install. This is my style of hood. Is 110lbs. a good weight? How much does the OEM hood weigh?

Sorry this hood is for 04-05, but I didn't want to start a new thread.

Nobody has that as far as I know. I haven't even seen an Elantra with it on, I'm wondering if they've actually even made one for an XD2 yet. Interesting.

Does anyone know if they use a chopper-gun or wet lay-up to lay down the fiber?
