After many years of swapping out every type of Honda engine in all types of Hondas I got bored with them and now I am the proud pwner of a new '05 Elantra GLS Sedan. I'm wondering if anyone out there has knowledge of which Hyundai engines, if any, are interchangeable with each other. Yes my car is brand new with barely 100 miles on it but one day I will want to do a swap so if lemme know if someone out there knows of a swap or just your opinion on the subject.

you could always try to do a full Tibby GT swap, or even try to squeeze a new 260 hp Sonata motor in.
first and foremost, congradulations on the new car. Welcome to the club.
Now, please search on things before you start a new thread, there have been plenty of discussions of motor swaps to the XD.
The Delta V6 (Tib, Sonata, Santa Fe, Tuscon, XG) WILL fit into the XD. You could also put the mitsu J2 engine and do a hybrid turbo if you could find the electronics for it.
The 1.5 or 1.6 Accent engine would fit too, but why?

Question:
Are the delta v6 and this J2 motor direct drop ins?
direct? no nothing is direct. You have to get the ECU, fabricate motor mounts, change axles and a whole lot more things that i am not thinking of right now

yeah what he said ^
well the delta only requires minor adjustments to make it work in comparison to the J2 swap (which would recomend more than the delta) which would require extension trany upgraded and transplantation of several other engine components none of which i know specificaly or in any kind of detail. haha. but i know thats the basic deal.

I wonder why noone has done this Tib V6 swap? What kind of "minor adjustments" are we talking about? Do the I4 and V6 engines use the same tranny? I know the I4 tib has the same engine as the Elantra. With the V6 Tib engine, would it be just a drop in, connect it to tranny, and replace a couple other things (ECU, Harness, etc etc)
well, people HAVE done the V6 swap, just not in the states.
Look at it this way. Its going to cost you about 4-5k in parts. (new)
remember too that a stock delta is putting 162 or thereabouts to the rubber.
Its just not cost effective to do

Also, the 2.7L Delta v6 sucks (IMHO). It's a ****load of work for only +35hp on a slow-revving, goofy-power-banded, torqueless-wonder, refabbed-truck-engine.

lol, yeah just do a turbo or supercharger get your self 200hp to the ground and show the tibby owners who's boss.
