As for fitment, yes the will fit the fronts (rear drums will also but they will be excess or longer, no biggie)
Edit- thanks for PM'ing the site admin prior to posting :)

Yeah, I'm down for this. Everyone says that they are a direct fit.
Just a suggestion: put the price in the thread title, you might attract more people.

good idea :D

I don't think the thread titles can be edited anymore - Blue might have to go ahead and do that for him - it just keeps the consistency of the threads so people remember what thread said what, as opposed to someone changing the name entirely and others get lost trying to find the info once the title is edited.

Will not work on rear drums !

06-07-2004, 08:09 PM
so fronts will work only then? for the GLS models
tibby01
06-10-2004, 11:20 AM
if the drums are the same on the tiburon as they are on the elantra, then they will work. he has lines for the drums on tiburons, too.
ok guys, we passed the first price break.

Is it possible to just get a rear set? I already have front lines.
tibby01
06-16-2004, 10:33 AM
it would probably be possible, but i dont think you could get them at a discount. email him at raymond@eliteauto.ca and ask. it would have to be something outside this group buy.

Question - The fact that my Elantra has ABS and the fact that my b/f's RD doesn't and he has the SS lines - is that going to affect the braking? What I"m trying to get at is: are the brakes going to be so sensitve because more pressure is being placed on them where the ABS will be activated a lot more often?
carbonman
06-19-2004, 10:09 PM
Jo, they will operate the same abs or not
SS lines don't increase sensitivity, they prevent over expansion of the lines during hard braking / HEATED conditions

O.k. I have read and reread this....so basically what is the TOTAL price for the lines and just to mkae sure I'm right they will not work on rear drums...

tibby01
06-20-2004, 05:44 PM
well, ive been told that the rear drums on the elantras are the same as the rear drums on the tiburons. if they are, then people who have drums in the back can still get a full set because he has rear lines for people with discs, and people with drums.
total price for a complete set(4 lines total) is listed on the first post.

i just asked him about money orders.
when it is time to pay up, i will pm or email everyone who is involved. the ending date for this right now is july 3rd. it may be extended if we still havent reached 15. i think our odds are pretty good though.

I'll take a set also, 2001 Elantra with rear drums
tibby01
06-22-2004, 06:14 PM
bad news guys, random told me that he doesnt think the drums are the same on the rd tib and xd elantra. how many people does this affect?
perhaps for people who have drums you could buy the whole set for disc brakes, and then sell the rear disc lines to people who have big brake kits up front, and discs in the back. or you could get the tiburon drum set, use the disc lines up front and chance the drum lines in the back. if they dont fit, then you could try selling them to tib owners with drums in the back. this kinda could still be a deal, because ive seen most lines run atleast 110 a set.
so basically, all disc brakes used between rd tibs and xd elantras are identical, including the front and back. but the drums are different.
if you want out, post up and ill take you off the list.

ok, thats 17 total now. PLEASE, if you havent read the update on the fitting situation above, make sure you look at it to see if you still want to be involved in this. its 5 posts up.

you will be fine.
guys, i sent out pms to everyone involved to make sure if you are still in or not, just in case some may not be keeping up with this thread.
----7/4----
hey guys, raymond just emailed me and said that if someone had a stock brake line that they could send him, he would probably have a set of brake lines that could match up for the rear drums.
anyone interested?
----7/8----
sending out pms to people with payment information. we have 15 with the ones that confirmed over here.
only1db, do you still want in on this?
i dont know if you edited out that you wanted in or what, but for future reference, i wouldnt do that. make another post, or just edit the original one, leaving the first mesage in there if not to much time has passed.

Greetings,
Quick question about this group buy: Would tomorrow or the weekend be too late to get in?
I have a 2003 GLS with ABS and have noticed the spongy feel of the pedal. I would like to have this mod done, but I am currently having issues with the second failed set of rear rotors in 11,000 miles. The car is going to the dealership tomorrow, when I am going to propose that they install a set of aftermarket rotors (purchased at my expense) to try to finally bring an end to this ordeal. I don't want to make any commitment to the brake lines until I find out if they will agree to the aftermarket route, since, if they don't, I'm taking my case to the grand poobahs at the Hyundai zone office, and additional mods to the braking system may give them an opportunity (but not a legitimate reason) to avoid dealing with the problem.
Thanks for letting me vent a bit and for cluing me in on the time issue.

Count me in, too. '03 GLS with ABS.
Talked the dealer into installing aftermarket rotors and pads (no warranty, of course, but no labor either) on the back to replace the repeatedly-failing stock parts. We'll see how this works.
