I just learned it's alive and well - minus Chevrolet badges. It's a Holden now, and not made for the North American Market. The SS does have teh 5.7L V8 in it though.

The Caprice is also alive under the Holden brand.
After looking through Holden's line-up, WTF is GM doing here? They look like they've got some great cars that could strap on a Chevy/Pontiac badge and start kicking *** in the U.S.

Well the thing with the European or Australian people like there RWD vehicles and in the US and Canada we like FWD cars becuase of the snow we get. Ford does the same thing also, you can still buy the Falcon in Europe and its RWD.

Because GM has no imagination that why! Somewhere they got the idea that what America really wanted was a Northstar V8 FWD four door instead of the kick *** RWD stuff that the Aussies get. Hell they even nuetered the GTO the first year it was available here....Maybe if Hyundai bought them and applied some of their aggressive product thinking to GM's basically good platform.....Hmmmmmmmm A V8 AWD Elantra.....

GM USA could also take some pointers for the interior design from Holden, Australia. I like the interior on that Ute.
Have you seen the interior on the Cobalt base model? It looks like it came out of a Corolla from ten years ago -- totally blah, and stuff like the dash light dimmer is just stuck in holes cut into the dashboard facia!

I like the Vectra, Commodore, and Cruze.
We have had GM el camino styled ( we call them utilities, or `ute`s ` ) since 1950.... also ford falcon models as well. If you prefer ford to GM, google XR8 or XR6 turbo Ford Falcon ute, see if that floats ya boat.

That is exactly where the Pontiac GTO came from.

I think it's pretty ugly (I can see it's usefulness), maybe that's why I don't like the Baja either.

The sedan version is pretty cool though.

I like the baja... well kinda but that ford XR8 and the Holden SS ute thing are both too small. Like a friggin cavalier with a bed. Needs to bigger like the old el camino. I had one great car...er truck....er thing. Fast as hell too...once the tires stop spinning

I'm not much of a fan of ute's. I'm all about the 4 door sedans, but before I was a hyundai fan, I was definately a GM man.
However, if I was choosing a new ute of of the HSV maloo and the FPV Tornado, Ford wins easily.

El Camino's are pretty sweet looking machines though. I've seen only one in Australia, but I'm sure there a plenty more which have been imported.
Here`s a hot aussie ute! nyuk nyuk

Damn dude!!! Where the hell did you find that!?
I've NEVER seen anything like it before, and I LOVE it. :)
Must be a custom job right?
Yeah, it is kinda cool eh.. it was for sale on the gold coast, think the price is over 10k.

Damn, coolness. Now that's a "ute" that I'd want.
Super, Australians have been doing that to all sorts of cars for more years than I care to remember. I have seen mid sixties impala`s, late fifties big body fords, a rolls royce. you name it.
