omg...
another darwin award is about to be awarded ...
sheesh.... has anyone told you that blacking out your tail lights makes your car harder to see at night ?
just imagine an 80 year old dude driving around in the dark and he comes up to a light and BANG ! ... all he can say is " I never saw the car ! " ...
considering that your car is already black ! LO L
SHEESH ..

^^^ Also makes your brakes harder to see in daylight.
But, if you really want to, there is stuff called "nightshades" you can spray on to the lenses that will darken them. You can also get the covers that go over the lights from dreamka4u - http://www.dreamka4u.com/products.php?id=78&op=__reader__
if you must darken them, I would suggest the covers, not the spray - becasue it's reversible.

Yeah I know that...but its just a risk I am going to have to take...besides my car is already black...
I don't actually want the tail lights PITCH BLACK I just want a little dark coat on them... I can't seem to find the nightshades stuff...

lol ford, answer the man's question!
Here's a pic of my smoked taillight covers
http://www.elantraxd.com/forums/showthread.php?t=9059
I got it from dreamak4u.com as stated above by hyunelan2!
Literally, it was a shaded plastic cover with double-sided tape on, so the install took less than 5 min
And it added a nice look to my black car which you seemed to have!
I got it for $53 shipped, good luck~!

the covers dont make it that dark. but gives it a nice tint to make it look better then nothing on there at all.

Yeah I am trying to compare with it on and with it off...but like the other guy said...you can barely notice the tint...but its still noticible right?

I'm with Ford. Here in the land of common senseless those are everywhere. Don't screw with your lights people, it's a safety thing. Safety first, fancy crap later.

Can we compromise here. You can smoke the tail lights if you promise to buy led lights brighter than the stock lights in the tails. That way your tails look good all day long, and people can still see you when you are driving at night.

I believe the ones from Dreamka are a light smoke color... not a dark black cover like, say GTO blackouts...

Clearing some things up:
1. Niteshades is a great spray tint (bought from Ebay).
1a. It can be reversed (just use alcohol or acetone to remove it) *acetone may melt plastic.
1b. I know this because I've used it on my old montero sport
1c. You can adjust the darkness of tint by how much you spray on so you can give it a factory tail tint look like some cars have.
2. I do agree that you shouldn't go too dark so your tails are not visible at night, just get leds.

i had to email the guys a dream to get the smoked ones because the link does say clear. Just email the guy and ask about the smoked ones.
and sorry but if you cant see my brake lights between my taillights and my 3rd and 4th brake lights then you should not be driving a car at all.

Ok let me clarify a couple things
First, the link in Dreamak4u says clear taillight cover... and they mean it! It's clear
But if you email the guy who's in charge, he will confirm you that he has two different types: clear and smoked
You should tell the guy that you want the smoked ones because clear ones kind of look silly
Second, they are definitely noticeable (the smokes ones from dreamak4u) Perhaps not as much as the ones where you spray paint but still...
I personally love the covers and highly recommend them especially if u have a black car
But thats just my .02

They did have them at one point of time. Email kSpec or Dreamka4u and they might be able to help.

There's nothing wrong with that, in fact, it's preferable to starting a new thread.

You could always go with smoked vinyl too. Some other members have had success with that. I might go that route at some point, once it gets warmer.
