I'm sure some people are aware of this - but for those who don't know...by Fall 2005, the 2006 Hyundai Areza is being released and looks pretty sweeeet! Visit the hyundai website to read more about it. It has an Elantra-esque front end and grille. According to the Hyundai site, its estimated at 265hp and 257 pounds of torgue with the 3.8L DOHC 24-valve V6 engine...bigger and faster than the 06 Sonata. It also features a factory cold air intake, 17" alloys, Infinity Premium sound with 6-disc in-dash changer and 10 speakers and 315-watt external digital amplifier, and a tuned exhaust system with dual chrome outlets. Its a 5-speed automatic w/ Shiftronic. No info yet on prices. Alls I got to say about this car is
I am definitly trading in my Elantra for this once this comes out!
Post your opinion of what you think of the 06 Areza on a scale from 1-5

I have a hard time telling the difference between the new Sonata and the Azera... I mean, I can see the differences, but they look very similar to me. This car is definately a glimpse of what the future has to hold though. I like what Car and Driver said in this month's issue. In the article about the new Sonata they said "If this is Hyundai doing Toyota, we can't wait to see Hyundai do Lexus." This may be a preview of that.

you're crazy to but a first model year of that car.............look how long it took elantra to be a good quality car.

:abovelol: I don't agree. Hyundai has come so far that reliability shouldn't be a problem. They have been working on the Azera since 03' and it should be just as good first year production as in the 3rd year of production. The Tuscon has been one of the post reliable first year vehicles of 2004-2005 model year according to strategic vision and jd power. There is no more risk buying a Hyundai as a first year model.

That wide back end kills it for me. The back fenders kinda bubble out...I just don't like it. If they flattened that out it would look very nice.

I agree airmandad, I like the car a lot, and think it might do well for hyundai. The only negative from my perspective is the Elantra-esque grill. Compaired to the one in my link, I think it looks rather clunky and dated with the big chrome surround. The one in the link I think looks much more refined and contemporary. I'm not certain, but I think the one in the link is korean speck. Just my opinion though. But All said and done, I would buy it if I could afford it.www.megaauto.com/upload/contents/imgfiles/97/1/29336_15_1.jpg Some korean spec interior pics.www.megaauto.com/upload/contents/imgfiles/97/1/29336_17_1.jpg www.megaauto.com/upload/contents/imgfiles/97/1/29336_20_1.jpg www.megaauto.com/upload/contents/imgfiles/97/1/29336_26_1.jpg www.megaauto.com/upload/contents/imgfiles/97/1/29336_27_1.jpg www.megaauto.com/upload/contents/imgfiles/97/1/29336_18_1.jpg

man, I saw both NF sonata and Azera in a korean drama... I guess hyundai sponsor them or something... About the cars, I gotta say both them looks really good to me.
When I saw Azera on it, I was like... "wow, that's that new car coming here soon... awsome~~~" lol and for the difference between sonata and azera, you can definately tell from the front look. Hyundai is gonna rock this world!! lol Man, I can't wait til the next gen of tibby...

I like the Sonata better, for its edgier exterior and a better looking interior.

Not a big fan of the back end. Looks a lot like those...what were they? Mark VIIIs? From the late 90s?
At any rate, it looks GMish to me on the back.

^^Lol, that's kinda funny. I do agree that I can see a hint of Mark VIII in it, but that was a Lincoln, which is owned by Ford, not GM.
If it has a 5-speed. Deal. If not, I better be able to put one in...

Everyone knows that the reason they don't put manuals in cars (like these) is because they won't sell, right?
Anyway, the price tag will be only slightly higher than the current XG. Say $26K, and not more than $30K with all the options (which again, I think is only the sunroof). HyundaiUSA has said that America isn't ready for a $30K Hyundai and they are right. Expect the Navigation to become available sometime in 2006 (I'm thinking late 2006), which could then push the price tag over $30K.

I thought the Areza was larger than the Sonata, judging by SED price it will be more like an XG350 I believe

It is larger than the Sonata. Just like the XG was bigger than the Sonata until the NF. Check out a post I make in about 5 minutes.

I saw one of these up at work earlier this week. I wish I had some pictures from it. A Hyundai Rep. drove it down to our dealership. All I can say is WOW! So much nicer than my NF Sonata. Wish I could afford it, lol. I'll try to get the pictures my co-worker took of it.
