A 3 counts? When I was going away to school (granted almost a decade ago) I needed a 4 to get any credits... not that it mattered, I scored a 2 (Eng).

Yea 3 counts. 1 is average 2 is great 3 is pass 4, 5 etc...
Either way most don't get a 3 anyway. Afterall, it is the Harvard freshmen entrance exam! Well atleast for Eng.

^^^ What are you talking about? Maybe I'm thinking of something different. We took AP (advanced placement) tests one time in our Senior of High School, if you scored high enough, you got to skip certain 100/1000 level classes in college. Is that what you're talking about? If so, why do you take them every year?

hehe hyunelan!
we are on the same test! AP (advanced placement) test that allows the participant to receive credit prior to actually attending a course
You are absolutely right, most students take this AP test when they are in their last year in high school
However, this test is NOT limited to only seniors but rather, offered to anyone who wishes to take it
Of course, the difficulty of the test often bars the underclassmen from doing well but some still do manage! (those who excel in certain area)
Anyways, the test is offered once in May and you are able to take it anytime during high school (or even middle school)
Haha, btw, I am going for this award called AP State which is granted to one boy and one girl who take the most number of AP tests in the state and receive 3 or better (In New York, the winner usually takes 16 or more by their graduation)
I hope this clarified some of your confusion!

ericbeck, thanks... I never knew that - I thought you could only take them right before entering college.
Just don't test out of too much... it's nice to have that one easy blow-off class on your schedule every semester.

yeah i hear you~!
in fact, im only taking so many AP tests to show the colleges that I am able to do well in many different subjects
like you said, I will likely take classes that I have taken AP tests on to review the important basics and maintain a high GPA throughout the freshman year
thx for the advice~! good to know that we can get more assistance here than just about our cars

cypher, you little trickster...
with basic trig and calculus, you can make a model that will give you instantaneous piston velocity, given a crank angle...
you ought to know exactly what we're talking about in that thread.

Some of you on here are some smart little f*ckers! Congrats to all of you who even dared to pay and take the test. Even though I took a few different AP classes, the only test that I took was for Spanish which I actually passed. I can't imagine how hard it would be to take and pass a total of 16 AP tests. That's freakin crazy!!

As for math classes, I got a 5 on Calc AB my freshman year, 5 on Calc BC my sophomore year
Ok... you're going to have to explain why you took the same course twice. Calc AB is first semester college calculus. Calc BC is first AND second semester college calculus. It doesn't make any sense for you to have taken both of these tests, since BC covers what was already taught in AB.
Just FYI, if you're looking to take "easy blow off" classes as an excuse to not take an AP test, please reconsider. Do not make your parents or yourself pay the extra money for classes you do not need to be taking. If you're smart enough to take an AP test, you're smart enough to get an A in all of your classes if you just put the effort into them. People always claim they don't want to take AP tests because they can take the same class in college for a "GPA booster." I did this too... and well... its hard to "boost" a 3.9 GPA. Its just not worth it. Take the tests. Get out of the classes for cheap. :D

nonono, you got it all wrong bro~!
Ok first, I had to take Calc AB then BC because in my high school, students were permited to take BC only after completing AB. So freshman year, I took AB and took the AP test, then sophomore year, I took BC and took the AP test
Now, I didn't say I am not gonna take AP test after taking a course for it!
I just said even though I may have a good enough score from an AP test, I might still take the same class in college
In fact, this is recommended by many colleges especially the ones in the ivy league
In harvard, you can only get credit for the AP tests IF and ONLY IF you have a score of 5 (nothing else, 4's not good enuf) and the class is not part of your major.
For instance, if I am majoring physics, I wouldn't be able to receive any AP credit pertaining to the subject. I might be able to get credit for US history but thats it. The colleges want you to waste your money and take the courses taught by their own professors.
Now, about putting in effort, I assure you that I put my best effort in school
Believe me, I went through a living hell when i was preparing for all seven AP tests this May (yes... caffeine pills do miraculous work)
Also, I've been taking a college level course at a local community college since last year
I took Calculus Three and Engineering Physics. (4.0 :-) )
O btw, 3.9 GPA is insane! what college do you attend???

Congrats man. Calc was the only AP exam I passed when I was in high school. I also took the AP exams for US history, American government, and economics, but I got 2's on all of them because despite being in advanced placement I was one lazy *** high school student, which is why eleven years later I am still in school. lol

I know my Calculus. It says You + Me = Us!! LOL
I got as far as AP Stat in high school. i was totally loss. And barely passed it with a D. My counseler recommended me to take a full schedule as a senior because colleges look at that.

I should mention... I only got to Trig/PreCalc in high school, and I failed.
In college I failed Math 108 (Calc for Business applications aka the easiest calc you can take and get credit for) but when I took it again with a different professor I got a B.
I hate math.
