View Full Version : Goodbye to my nasty old neighbors, hello to all new ones!

Well we did it. My wife worked really hard this year doing enough work for three people to bring home the same sized paycheck as I do doing for doing next to nothing. I really hated her job (She managed, cleaned, and did the teaching at one of Korea's multitude of after school academies) because she was always busy and cranky, but it was worth it. We moved from a nasty, old 17 pyong (Korea's measurement for floor space) to a nice new and fancy 32 pyong apartment. 2 bedrooms to 4 bedrooms, one for each kitty! I'll post pictures as soon as I find the film (still doing some unpacking). The before and after pics are striking.

The dishes in the sink are clean, there was no space in the cupboard for them. That kitchen sucked, the bathroom too. :)

The cats (we have 3) are still adjusting. My cat from Canada has already tried sitting everywhere and has claimed the choice spots for laying around, while the other two are still traumatized. They each spent the entire first day hiding in different corners. They are indoor cats their whole world more or less doubled in size. :) The one from Canada (She's the one featured in my avatar) has moved 4 times already, so it's no big deal for her.

Let's hope the new neighbors are more car friendly than the last bunch of jerks. The parking spaces are slightly smaller though, which is not encouraging. *looks around for wife* BUT you should see all the schoolgirls at the new place. Time for shades  You're never too young to be a letcherous old man. :)

Another stupid question: Does your Canadian cat have trouble communicating with the other two cats (which I assume are native Korean cats) due to the language barrier? ;) I have three cats, too -- our oldest thinks he's a dog and doesn't like the other two.

Hopefully this will solve your problems with car and house vandalism...

Damn, I did not need to read that this late at night. Now I will be sitting up all night wondering if cat language is generic or if there really is Korean Cat, Canadian Cat, Mexican Cat, American Cat, etc. languages.

Congrats on the new apartment, and good luck on the new neighbors.

Mr.Dan
I myself lived in Korea for 9 years (from 3 to 12)
What city do you live in?
I lived in Chun-Ju?
And 32 pyung isn't too bad!!! More than enough for two people and three cats
Anyways, update us with pics of your new apartment
Congrats~!

Well the Canadian cat isn't much interested in communicating. She just punches them in the face if they get too close. Both the other cats have boxers noses. The two Korean cats are good friends and have lick fights together. One chases the other and when she catches her, hold her down and licks her until the other one can get away. :)

BTW I teach English and I live in Pohang. I live here because I like to complain, it's easy living and the food is good.

*Bump for pictures at last*

I have to use the computer as my entertainment system/ stereo in the new place, so until I get a new one, I have to do all my messaging at work. :)

Oh and my quest for better neighbors has failed. I washed my car earlier today and when I went out to wax it this evening I found two little bastards throwing sand all over my car. I gave them a lesson in profanity and told them in Korean to get lost. Had we been in the U.S. and had I been carrying a gun, I'm pretty sure I would have used it. I was really, really pissed off.
