Ok, I'm in love... I had my 01 GLS in for the exhaust manifold recall and just for kicks test drove the above mentioned car.... 05 Tidal Wave GT Hatch 5spd loaded.... Lets just say, if everything works out, it will be mine sometime next week... Its just a teaser and I will keep you guys posted.... I won't be able to take pics until if/when I take delivery. I <3 it.

Right on. Tidal wave is the best, or Hydrogen Blue as Hyundai Canada calls it. So just curious what it is exactly that makes you love the '05 Hatch 5spd over your '01 GLS?

The seats are more comfortable, the ride is better, and its a 5 speed... I hate automatic with a passion.

Oh, that would do it, I'm a firm believer that cars suck unless they are manual, the only allowance being large V8s, like the Dodge Charger, are acceptable with automatic, but they'd still be better as a manual.

Man, this is sad.... cleaning out the 01 because if this happens, i hope to have it happen monday. It going to be sad...

I have grown strongly attatched to the black 01 GLS over the 2 years that I've had my license and owned it. Lots of memories, road trips, driving experiences and the like.

My most recent road trip is prob the most memorable actually. 2 friends and myself went on a trip down to AR for a week. It was a blast. (I have friends down there that I love to visit)

Most of my major driving experiences happened in the 01. Learning to drive well in the rain, snow, thunderstorms, tornadoes (yes that one actually happened), how to drive fast, slow, and moderately. Learning the meaning of emergency trip, thats when I drove to GA and back in 18 hrs.

I can't pass up the deal I'm getting on the 05 though. It's everything I ever wanted in an Elantra. Down to the color. But its still going to be sad watching the 01 fade off in the rear view as I turn out of the dealer lot... almost brings a tear to my eye.

Anybody else this attatched to their car or am I the only crazy one here  .

If the deal goes through, I'm going to post up final pics of the 01 and then post pics of the 05.

 Pewter.

I also agree that the 01 seats are highly uncomfortable for road trips.

I have an 01 and I never recieved a recall for the exhaust manifold! Is it only on a certain date that the car was made?

I don't think they've sent anything out in the mail... I know I never recieved anything.....

I took the car in for other service though, and they checked it.... had me come in a week or so later to have it replaced... at 115,000 miles :)

I also agree that the 01 seats are highly uncomfortable for road trips.

I don't think they're bad..... until you hit hour 4 or 5..... at that point you have to get up and walk around for a couple minutes....

I hope the car comes through for you.....

Welcome to the TW family.....

Use a blow dryer to heat up the pinstripe... it will take a while.. it actully looks alot better... helps bring out the color better IMO

Purplish with the red needles.. yes that is standard on the GT...
