View Full Version : Fender Mirrors

Gentlemen (and Ladies), I was wandering, has anyone needed the fender mirrors for their Elantras? I do, anyway. I don't really like the side mirrors to be so close to the driver's seat and they have serious blind spots (now I mostly rely on the wide-angle rear view mirror to correct that problem), but am I the only one? I want to install a pair of mirrors out on the fenders, somewhere between the front and the dfront doors, on the sides -- you know what I'm talking about. I've seen some really cool-looking ones out on the streets, but wasn't able to find much on the internet. I found these: http://www.mooneyesusa.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=1473 but that's not exactly the look I want...
Any suggestions?

Like that says, these are mostly for 70's cars that came with them stock in a lot of places.

This mod would look extremely funny on a 2001+ Hyundai Elantra.

I'd just use your current three mirrors so that they cover as much area as they can.

I suggest something like this:

Also, this is quick and interesting regarding blind spots:

I just head-check, but the small stick-on convex mirrors are great.

Found these:

Nice w/ side signals -- that's what I was talking about: http://image05.webshots.com/5/1/62/20/71416220jxwBho_ph.jpg And you said "a 70's look" -- nahh! :abovelol: This is nice. I've seen these on a Rav4 -- they're not big at all.
These go for $75 a pair w/ warranty and free shipping. Mount right on hood without drilling. They also fold in. Come in 7 colors (which all match your standard elantra factory colors.
Although, imho, the turn signal is not really necessary in that place.
And while we're on the subject of mirrors and turn signals I also found these interesting parts on eBay:

The stick on mirrors or the standard driver/passanger side mirrors have their place. And they are cool and great in their ways.
I started this topic in order to exchange information specifically about the Fender Mirrors, or they sometimes are referred to as Parking Mirrors, Assistance Mirrors, etc. -- in other words specifically about the kind that mount on the sides of the hood close to the front bumper. (I just got a bit carried away in my last posting here about the turn signals. :D )
But lets continue -- if anyone has any links, recommendations, etc. I would like to hear them. Thanks for many replies so far!

Since those fender mirrors for the Santa Fe are a Hyundai part, contact dreamka4u.com and see if they can get them. I just know that TFR charges you way too much for the stuff they sell.

Yeah, I know what you're talking about. But not only are they funny looking on modern cars, they're also impractical, since you have to go outside the car to adjust the mirror.

Something like these work very well, they don't look funny, and they can be adjusted easily. I really hope you don't ruin your car by putting those mirrors on.

By the way, you're driving a compact car. Not an SUV, a convertible, or a sports car with no rear windows... unless you're never even glancing over the sides or have no idea how to adjust your side mirrors, there shouldn't be any blind spot problems with an Elantra.

Theses type of mirrors were or maybe still are standard on Japanese cars in Japan. I'm not sure if they are any more, YES they look odd to us, having been over there & seen them on a majority of cars years ago it did not look that out of place.. After a while it looke dodd to NOT see them Each country has it own idiosyncrasies which look odd to us in other parts of the world.
