went to the track today. 20$, all the runs i could get in. 1st run, im about 3/4 way down track, and i hear something clunk under my car, and look in the rearview and see what seems to be a side mirror. thinking it was on the track, and nothing on my car was loose, i didnt think much of it. so i make 3 more runs. best i could get in was 17.5209. so i figure ill let the car cool down, reset the battery (since i didnt when i did the fuel pump last week or the exhaust on thursday)...so i pull the fuse to reset the battery, pop the hood, and to my suprise, i see this (see pic 1). yes, that would be where my F*(K|NG AIR FILTER CAME OFF. IT FELL OFF, IT FELL THE **** OFF (ron white fans will understand that). so im like, ****! shut the hood so no one can see it get in the car, put fuse back in, turn to ACC, and my clock or radio arent working. so i try starting the car, starts fine, gauges working, a/c working, clock/radio arent. so i drive w/ very low rpms to town, spend like 10 min, find an autozone get a filter (27$) and go out and put it on. then, spend like 7$ on an assortment of fuses, go outside, check all fuses behind the little compartment on the left side, theyre all fine. so **** it, go back to the track, run 3 more times. best i could get was a 17.4920. i got that one on film (if i can find a place to host 5.4 mb, ill post it) just stuck the camera between the headrest and the seat and pushed it down to hold it.

now im sure someones gonna say i didnt drive it right, driver error, something. i had great launches, hit my shift points PERFECTLY and still, all i could pull was a 17.492. the first 4, i was dumpin the clutch about 2k, 2600, 3k, and 3500, going up each run. when i came back from getting the filter, a skipped the burnout, and let off the clutch easily so i didnt peel out

heres a worksheet of all my runs, and the one from last year @ the very bottom

oh..mods. today - 2.5" SRI, 2.25" catback (evofusion) took my subs out, 205 tires.

mods last year - 195 tires (stock i think) fart can muffler on stock pipe, CAI, and had my subs in.

the break between 4/5 is when i left, so 5-7 are running w/ some octane booster (hey, couldnt hurt) and a new air filter. the very bottom is last year, march/april time, about an hour away from this place

got a tank of watery gas? you shouldnt be trapping that low...

were you running with the AC on? leaving the E-brake on?

if you take your car out of gear and take off the E-brake, can you push the car around with relative ease?

try filling up at a name brand station next time and reset the ECU again, see if that changes anything.

that's pathetic man! My auto XD is faster...

Those 60' times are very bad. You should get 2.25-2.3

I bet he didn't get a little spin in first so he couldn't keep the revs up for the 1-2 shift. thats what was causeing the ****ty 60 foot times. a perfect lauch on street tires will have just a hint of wheel spin keeps the car from bogging due to the extra traction a well preped surface allows. When I took the saturn to the track 2,300-2,600 would net about the same 60 foot mark as you had. 3,500rpm + skipping the burnout box would get me sub 2.1's but after that the car has crap for gearing.

Ps.
Did you reset your ecu?

im going out to the track i went to last year on friday to see if its the track. also, since its only 1/2 hour away, im gonna drive there, keep some ice on the IM and reset the ecu before i run. im not expecting to run any GREAT times, but i would hope to beat my times from last year at the least

and hopefully itll be cooler since this will be a nighttime event (starts 7ish i think) so itll be cool. it was probably 90-95 when i went on sunday

Elantras have traction control? I didn't know that... either way it has to be off or you'll bog down.
