Well if you say he has a Twin Cam motor than your gonna get smoked. The only engine that GM makes that I believe is labeled as a TWIN CAM is the 2.4 Liter Twin Cam and it makes 150 HP. My Alero had a 2.4 Twin Cam motor, but there Alero with that motor is a few ticks slower than a stock Elantra but in a lighter car like a Saturn its gonna be more than powerful.
My friend has a 04 alero with the 2.2 eco-tec motor and a auto trans and I didnt have a problem with running away from it

alright...thanks for the replies.....i'll still take him on the track...i guess the only think i can can rely on is the fact that i've been drivin stick longer than him...my friend blew his motor a few weeks ago b/c he didnt check the oil since he bought it, but if i get a good jump on him i should take him by a few mm secs. Right?

124hp for a 1.9L twincam saturn. I used to have an SC1 (104hp single cam).

If its an automatic your going to kill him. Those trans are slow off the line even with the more powerful motor. They can however get a good kick down and take off like a bat out of hell on the move. That on a drag strip wont be a problem... heh.

All i've got right now is a CAI, throttle body bypass, pcv filter, and clutch spring removal....
As for him his engine will be completely stock, since he blew his old one.(got a newer one w/ about 80,000 miles on it) depending on when he gets it and has it put in i may have the evofusion catback
they're both five spd.

You'll smoke him, I beat one with my old Tempo in a traffic battle. That guy was really trying, too.

i was thinkin about the underdrive pulley too but...not sure if i want that or catback...they were pretty impressed w/ the sound from just the CAI when we were on the highway :D

Hes getting a junkyard motor and you're worried? Follow him down the road to the dragstrip and watch his tailpipe for any signs of distress, (white smoke, blue smoke, black smoke) If you see any then you know he is as good as beat. Saturns in general aren't much to worry about unless the driver has talent.

As long as it isn't the SVO mustang (turbo), you're fine.

Get the catback -- an underdrive pulley can sometimes cause problems since the alternator, A/C and other belt-driven stuff isn't turning at full speed. The only thing the Catback does is look a bit funny and may make your car a little louder, but won't cause any mechanical issues.

It depends on which "twin cam" you are talking about. what make? sc2? ion? what year?

never raced him....if i see him though my fist will go straight through his skull.
But he had an old POS one, i posted this not knowing what my car was capable of;
1. He can't drive (just learned stick)
2. Never changes his oil (noob w/ any car work)
3. I saw his car once and it sounded like a dying weedwacker
O/T This is the guy that wanted me to go to jail so he could get with my wife.....oh the drama of recently graduated immature teenagers
But yeah i will never know
