i just bought my new elantra and when i told the dealership to dedect the radio from the car they took out ALL the mounting brackets. i just tried to do an install last night and after i took apart the dash i realized, to my dismay, that the run of the mill mounting brackets that come with decks weren't gonna cut it. any ideas on how to mount as is or anybody know where i can get the mounting brackets as it seems like something has to be missing

thanks!

In OEM fashion the radio mounts to the bracket on the side, then the bracket is screwed in from the front. There is also a metal bracket in the rear that the back of the deck rests on. Here is an image of the front:

If you bought an '05, your best bet is to buy the stereo mounting kit from the dealer. I think it's somewhere around $20.

Firstly, I'd call the dealer and tell them to give you back the brackets; just 'cause you asked them to delete the radio didn't mean they should take the brackets, too!

If that doesn't work, there's an adapter that might fix the problem: http://www.elantraxd.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8869

are there any kits that allow for 2 decks to be installed instead of 1 deck and the pocket?

BAsically, if you've got the factory metal brackets, you just take the pocket out and install either two HU (CD and in dash CD changer like Kenwood or Blaupunkt) or a double-DIN single HU.
