So in the mail from Hyundai I get an invite to come in and test the new Sonata. I figure, yeah why not? I read in a little farther and basically they are offering with your test drive a chance to win an all expenses paid trip to drive the Cabot Trail (450 km long) in Nova Scotia. So besides going out and trying out the car, heck maybe I can make it out for the long, twisty, turny roads in Nova Scotia for 6 days and 5 nights. Regardless, I'll be trying out the new Sonata soon just for the hell of it. I apparently have until Aug 31 to do it.

The MSRP on a Sonata GL is $21,900, in competition (they state) with the Accord DX $24,300, Camry LE $24,990 and Altima 2.55 $24,098.

I work at a hyundai dealer and I'm driving the new sonatas around the lot all the time -- I love them.

base 4cyl model is the only one in stick
i priceda loaded Lx out at 22750 but didnt close the deal cause i own my car (always did) and dont want to have to make payments on a car again...(if they made a sonata hatch it'd be a different story) interior is nice but a lil boring compared to competition, I wish we could get black leather and real "metalgrain" as in tucson instead of the carbon fiber look plastic in the grey car... ohh well maybe I'll really like the azera and where's the tidal wave blue in the sonata :D

They were running that down here, I was invited to a Hyundai Event in Philadelphia, it's posted here somewhere. They had food , drinks & lots of cars to test drive. When we were done we got a $ 50.00 Gift Credit card :nosthumbs to use for what ever we wanted. We got to test a Sonata against an Accord & a Nissan something on a test course. :drive: Then they had all the other Hyundais execpt the Accent that you could take out on the road.
We tried the Tucson & the Santa Fe. My wife & I had a pretty good time , the people were friendly & informative. Most were just contract people work who different shows. They did not act like experts but just gave good info.
The Sonata actually had a semi cold ram intake that was in the grill. sorry I did not take a picture.. Go & had fun with it, we are at the beginning of the wave as Hyundai rises :)

I got an invite to go to a VIP party at Burlington Hyundai for the unvailing of the new Sonata a few weeks ago. I wasn't planning on going, but got into a fight with the wife that day, so it would have been perfect for me to go to relax and calm down, but I couldn't find the invite.

Do most of the dealers actually stock GL 5 speeds?

From what I've seen (at both local dealers) the lots are full of Auto Theta GLS's, Auto Lambda GLS's, and a couple LX's.

I think the dealer in town actually had a 5-spd or 2 on the lot....out of 10 on the lot...

Spotted 2 2006 Sonatas today on the road. First ones I've seen. One black, one silver. I think it's safe to say a new 5 speed GL will be my next vehicle!

How'd you get it so cheap? That's more than $4,000 off MSRP. I can see $22K, but not that low. That's a great deal.

By the way, I wan't the same thing, except no sunroof.

^^^ Then no CD changer as well. They're both part of "package 3" and I don't think they can be seperated. Unless maybe you can do a dealer upgrade, rather than a factory upgrade, on the CD changer.

I have refered 10 people to surrounding hyundai dealers, I just walked into the sales office and said how many people I have reffered to the other dealer. I said they were at 21800 without hyundai financing, we ended up doing hyundai finincing at the price of 20600. I basically made them want my business so I would start reffering to them. The manager was not happy with the deal, but who cares. I also got a 2005 sonata for my friend at 7000 of msrp. We have done so much business with hyundai my dad communicates with some head people of hyundaiusa. They sent me 5 nice black hyundai jackets. I will try to get pics of the car soon, along with pics of my elantra.
