I am planning to build a custom enclosure to house my two 10" subwoofers, my Xbox, a DVD player (Only because I need it to run the LCD's), and possibly room for a 15" or 17" LCD monitor in the future. Now I was looking up the recommended dimensions for a Rockford Fosgate 10" sub (the newer version of the ones I have) and the recommended dimension is:
http://www.theinstallationshop.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=1889&HS=1
Recommended Sealed Box Volume: The sealed box sizes recommended by Rockford Fosgate range from 0.75 cu/ft to 1.25 cu/ft. Within this range, the ideal size recommended by Rockford Fosgate is 0.85 cu/ft
I measured my current sub box and here are the dimensions for the whole box (there is a divider seperating the two.)
2ft 6inches LENGTH X 1ft 1inch HEIGHT X 11" Depth
So correct me if I'm wrong... I have 1.24cubic feet of space per half correct?
These are the measurements I used...I just divided the length of the box in half:
1.25ft X 1.08ft X .92ft = 1.24cubic feet
So my question is...Can I make my custom enclosure smaller per subwoofer because if I use these dimensions...I cannot fit a custom box in my trunk.
so your going to put everything in the same box? probably not but if you are thats dumb the bass will rip that **** apart ;)

I'm attaching an example of how I want to do it....I did it in like two seconds so it's ****ty but whatever
Edit: So it's going in the same box yes...but as long as the center is air tight I think it should be alright?

With the subs your going to have problems with disk's skipping. It would proll be better to do some sort of custom box fit them into the corners then do an amp rack with the xbox and everything mounted near them. So 2 subs in each corner then in the middle amps xbox screen and dvd player.

Well I have no disks needed since I modded my xbox and backed up my games, but do you think I would have a problem with the hard drive even if the center area was air tight from the subs?

if your disk isnt skipping your HD will, since theres a disk in there unless you upgraded the HD to a shock resistance one but Im sure after time its going to **** up Id be safe and do it another way

Is this what you were trying to explain or something different?
Attached.
EDIT: Think of it this way...I saw a Pimp my Ride episode...I don't know if any of you saw it or not, but they put a fireplace in the back of the car and soundproofed it so that the glass on the fireplace wouldn't break...so there must be a way to do it...I'm just trying to figure out how.

The hard drives will only take so much pounding then it will eat it's self. All the extra protection in the world as far as mounting it with think rubber under it to help cushion shock will only stave off the inevitable hd failure. so cd disks or hard drive disks will skip or destroy something internal sooner or later. keeping them from sitting on something the subs are attached to will help it an the farther away you can keep will also help.
The pic you drew is pretty close you can have an amp rack mounted up to show off your amp then under it do a stealth install of the Xbox and everything then mount the screen as you see fit. there soundproofing is just using real thick nasty lexan or something of that sort to keep it from cracking and breaking. Also making a huge combo box subs amps Xbox’s screens and stuff won't be light your car will squat out real bad in the rear. stick 2 full suit cases in the rear and look at the car....

...I saw a Pimp my Ride episode...
That was your first mistake.
There are ways of soundproofing something enough not to break glass, but the vibrations are still there. The fireplace still shakes but the glass wont break. All they did was replace it with lexan. (The flames in the fireplace aren't real) You can put your Xbox back there with your subs, but your going to have to secure it in some way that it wont shake apart.
I suppose fiberglass would be the best way, but the Xbox will eventually crap out due to the vibration anyways.

The flames were REAL. I would go on ebay and buy a cheap xbox (used in good shape) and put it in there, as eventually it will die. What kind of LCD are you going to get?

The flames were not real. They were a projection of light. There is an electric heater in the bottom of the unit that creates the heating effect. They sell them at home depot. Go to the Home Depot websight and look up "fireplace" the first picture you will see is an electric fireplace, similar to the one they installed
Same thing.
The point is, pimp my ride is a useless show on MTV... "Music Television"...right.
Anyways, the point is it was not real flames, and your xbox will fall to pieces unless you do an extremely good job of securing it. Finding another position to mount the xBox is a better solution.

i dont know if the glove box is big enough in the elantra. but in my old honda prelude i custom fit my xbox into the glove box, then riped the dash out and custom fit a 10" touch screen moniter into the dash. had 2 Jl audio 12w3v2's, had a striped down laptop in the back. and i had a $2000 nav system off of ebay in there. the xbox would break if put in the back( i was stupid and did it ith my first xbox) the laptop worked fine. the best place to put the xbox is to throw it up front in the cabin somewhere. but thats just my opinion

if you put all this in 1 box, it will rattle all the components apart in a day or so.
ot:
ryan..what kind of numbers are you hitting with the re?? and how many watts to it? and dayum, tuned to 32hz.

2loud.. haven't been metered yet, but man... for 1 sub it BANGS! the ported box gives it some MEAN low end.
oh, i'd say around 750-850 watts. haven't actually tested this yet either. performance should improve after i run some of the 1/0 awg i got. all i can tell u is that my 4 awg ground started to melt a little at the ground point. my systems definately got some oooomph to it ;)

yeah dude, with that i wouldnt go with 0ga. i would use 2 or 4 ga wire. 0might be a bit overkill for about 1000w or less. but if it gets warm, then deffinately use 0ga. throw it up on a term-lab and get it metered. they meter it on the floor (in a gerbil cage, lol) and the windshield. let me know. 1 soloX w/2400 rms and it'll do 140 daily box, w/ a spl box i would hit a 150+spl, but i wouldnt be able to listen to it daily. :(
0ga wire here is 10.00@foot.
we need to meet up a few bass comps man.

im sure im hitting at least low 140's... and i already have a 50 ft spool of streetwires 1/0 awg. i'm gonna do 1/0 batt-back and 4 awg for the big 3. the downside is that i work 50-60 hrs/week and my free time is usually spent on my skateboard or with my woman. the problem is that i got "comfortable" with how my car is, and now nothing's getting done lol
btw, zapco amps are the ****. the power is soo clean its ridiculous!
and the fact that the sensitivity and efficiency is so good on the sx compensates for the lack of more power. eventually i envision getting a second sx and putting them both in a ported box most likely tuned @ 32 Hz again. seems to be the "sweet spot"
