I figured it was my wife's car since her oil was changed the same day I noticed it. I figured the tech might have been a little sloppy about it and it was just some that dripped off. We parked our cars in different places the next day and did not notice any oil leaks, so crisis averted...

While driving today I heard a noise under my car, I thought the road was clean but I figured I might have hit a rock. I drive a 1/2 mile to where I needed to go. Got back in my car to head home. I noticed an odd noise, as I turned left, I realized my oil light was on. I dropped my car into neutral and coasted slowly (with my hazards on) into the nearest lot about a 1/4 mile up the road (it was a busy street).

I usually service my car at a local shop, where I had it towed. They have done oil changes for me. I am guessing they reused the oil plug gasket. I am waiting for them to deny culpability before I have it towed to my local dealership. My only speculated cause was that I think they were reusing the oil plug gasket. Otherwise, I am clueless as to how this happened.

Anyone else have this happen? Was the car fine? Any idea as to what may have caused this?

The biggest question I have is what is the endpoint I should pursue to have this fixed?
