Guys im thinking of doing it like Morgasm did.. What do you all think? should I go with clearcoat on them or not? and how many layers do you think I should do?
I kinda figured that, I have nightshade on my taillights and I have never gotten pulled over for that, but I guess putting it on your headlights is a different story.
Or, you could get the headlight protector things that they sell and paint those. That way you can remove them if a cop tries to bust you and say sorry, ha. I think Scrooge or another Aussie member has done that.
I like the flat black look, my molding is flat black and so are my taillights.
I may not keep it like this for long. It comes off real easy with this orange paint remover stuff and it doesnt harm the plastic. I also may get the KDM fogs or the KDS chrome headlights.
But, if you are liking it, then that's what matters. I switched back to my stock tails after having the tinted ones and I'm liking the stock again, so I don't know.
YOU HAVE TO CLEARCOAT AND WETSAND...AND WETSAND...AND WETSAND...i probably put 7 coats of clear on and then spent a total of 2-3 hours wetsanding, if you get black on the sandpaper, then you went too deep, so stop and put more clear on...they will look better than the paint if you do them right, if you dont take the time to do them right, they look foggy and half-assed...and put more nightshade on the passenger side!!! (lol anyone seen the SNL skit "More Cowbell"? i just reminded myself of that, "I got a fever and the only cure is more NIGHTSHADE!" dont mind me...)

The passenger side doesnt need anymore nightshade.. It looks like it does because the sun is hitting it. As for clear coat.. I may put it on and I may not, I like the flat black look but thanks for the advice Morgasm.. If I decide to clearcoat it I will post more pictures.
I'm on the fence... I like the smoked headlight look (a la last-gen Impala), but by those pictures the finish kinda reminds me of spray-paint overspray. If you don't clearcoat, maybe you could wetsand (or claybar) the light smooth, so it still looks tinted, but doesn't look quite so blurry?

if any of you are like me who have silver stars... i can see road signs from i'd say a mile away... with my brights on. I doubt that he has any problem.....
Well F it.. This project was not what I was looking to get myself into, so I just stripped the nightshade off, haha.
