To clear a CEL yourself and reset the ecu for FREE. First warm up the car for 5 minutes until at normal temp. Second turn it off and disconnect battery. Wait for the Ecu reserves to drain and assist it by pushing the foot brake. Reconnect the battery and turn the car on. Drive regularly for the ECU to "relearn" its maps and the CEL should be off if you fully drained the reserves. Now if it comes back on, that means you did not repair the issue/problem since the ECU recognized it again.
^^^That works for a CEL reset, but I don't think it will work for an Airbag light reset? I thought that could only be cleared by computer. Worth a shot, i suppose, but don't get your hopes up.
If the car was in a wreck bad enough that you had to replace both bags, you will need to replace the srs wiring harness. Also, you probably have bad seatbelt pre-tensioners.Go get it looked at and they will tell you what codes are stored, therefore, you can get the parts to do it right.Never skimp on safety my man
I also replaced the seatbelts. All of the parts came out of a car that hadn't been wrecked. I called a dealer and they said I would need to have the code cleared. I'll try that then.......we'll wait to see.
Any OBDII scan tool that is capable of reading and clearing codes should do the trick.Make sure that you get the codes wrote down before they clear them, and thats if the codes clear and dont return. After retrieving the codes,go on hmaservice and find out what the codes mean or post them on here, and then you can fix it from there
