Idle sticking at certain RPM'S!!

I drive and when I put the car in neutral or come to a stop the engine will get stuck around 2100 rpm's and after a few seconds will drop to 1600rpm's and a few seconds (bout 30sec) after that it will finally go down to its normal idle. I think its a small vacuum leak but i've been wrong before. NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. Maybe the AICV.

Another one with that problem... For me it was TPS, as for some others in the past week... Any modifications to the engine?

there was a TSB for this.. i had mine fixed not too long ago. just go to the dealer and tell them your revs are hanging.. they should do it for free. just gotta reflash the ecu

Only if it's under warranty. I think people misunderstand what a TSB is. A TSB is not a recall. A TSB is there so when someone comes in with a complaint, the technician can look up the problem and see if there is a common solution. Just because there is a TSB does NOT mean that it will get taken care of for free.

First of all my elantra has 133,748.3 miles. YES that is correct, and it is a 2002. Thats the price of driving 100 miles everyday to work and back. And the car is on NOS (nitrous). So pretty much, miles= NO WARRANTY. Second of all I took it to the performance shop that I usually go to ( FYNETUNE in kendall,FL). And they say its a small vacuum leak, very small. I started the car today and picked up my little sister (which drives a XG350, mom took for the day) from school, and the car only did it once (the rpm sticking that is). Hopefully the car will behave. Cant wait to rip the car on NOS with the new clutch!!

If it's sticking like that then it's the IAC. (Idle Air Control Pintle)

I dunno, this crap is weird, the damn engine has'nt done it all damn day. I hope it does'nt start again, but you never know. if it starts again, Im gonna check into the IAC.

more than likely the TPS. i had it. swapped TPS off spare manifold and all is good now.

Mine also didn't do it all the time, sometimes he didn't do it for a week or so, and just when you hope it's gone, a mysterious comeback! And just like Cypher, TPS was the problem...

Mine's doing the same thing, and since I'm poor I'm putting off having it checked out and I'm too dumb to figure it out myself

I've noticed that it happens more often when it's humid outside. Anyone else notice that?

I must agree, it has been rather humid these days in south florida. Hmmmmm??? Maybe a Air temp. problem, messing with some sensors, I dunno, just throwing stuff out there.

I'm in Indianapolis and the last few weeks have seen some very humid days. I bought my '02 in April and it was fine, of course. But since the weather's hotter, it's started this crap. Being on a VERY limited budget makes me a little nervous about how long I should wait to get it looked at.
