Ok that makes sense. So the Sonata rotor may be thicker in the face area setting the wheel out far enough for clearance.

Who works at a dealer still confirm this?

On another note... how little space between the caliper and the wheel is too little? On my slipstreams, I probably only have like 1mm of space without the spacer (the front calipers are barely cleared...). Is there any danger?

shouldnt be...the wheel is bolted on to the whole assembly, so when one moves, it all moves

and beside being aluminum are they the same size?

i think the only ones that are a little bigger are the aluminum tib calipers...if aluminum = se, yes...and yes, GK GT > XD calipers

For the guys with Tiburon rotors you could use the GT Alloys if you were to use some spacers and change the studs for longer ones . I have noticed that hyundai uses the same length studs for the rear , but in the front my open ended lugnuts just thread to the middle (meaning the front disc hat is thicker) ,thats not enough threads to clamp in my opinion call me paranoiac , i would be smart to exchange the front studs for longer ones anyways for safety purposes , i don´t know if its just my elantra alone too someone could check how much the front studs stick out .

Depends on which rear discs you want. GT rear brakes will mount no problem of course.
