02 Rear Pyle 6 x 9 crackle

I have an '02 GLS and installed some Pyle 6 x 9's :

this is the 1st of my upgrades so i'm running off the oem deck currently with none of the amps installed as of yet. The 6 x 9's are rated at 400w. I have all the connections right and the bass on them just crackle? Anyone have experience with pyle? Is there a certain range of power required? Is it the OEM deck?

Any help would be appreciated.

before we get a SLEW of people knocking pyle and all that crap.
i would just like to point out i had this eagle vision i was selling and my system was in it. So i ripped out my system and put in a near All pyle system. Pyle cd player, pyle front and rear speakers. then i topped it off with a soundstorm 50x4 amp.. and i am completely and utter NOT lying, it was 100x better then stock and sounded good.. (obviously not AMAZING or as good as a good set of components or anythign.. but compared to even a better stock system it was real good) i know its hard to believe but i swear it amazed the hell out of me!

that out of the way, i just want to throw out there that pyle isnt 100% crap, they might not be amazin or as good as some other similiar priced stuff but until you install a pyle setup and amp it, you will never know what they can do! -So before i amped that setup it was pure and utter garbage.. really bad. cones moved all funky i thought well, its pyle thats what i get right? .. but i put that amp on there and i honestly was about to **** my pants. i mean i was playin stuff with acoustic guitar and i was playin some pink floyd and then moved to some drum solos from slipknot.. and everything sounded real good.. like real good!

so my recommend one is to check all the wiring, make sure its PERFECT and then do not expect that speaker to perform unamped! -400w is total bs. give that speaker 50-70rms watts and it should "wake up" if you will. considering pyle isnt the most amazin quality i wouldnt worry about getting some fancy schmancy amp.. the best thing i can recommend is exactly what i powered mine with that impressed me. a soundstorm cheapy.. actually i loved my soundstorm amp.. sounded awesome even with my alpine/infinity speakers, no distortion despite what people say :P!

get one of these, there the best i can recomend for your setup (course i think just about any semi-decent amp will be fine. but you are NOT going to beat this price..

i have used BOTH of those amps and been happy with each, and in the eagle setup i used the 4 channel with pyle speakers! and like i said, i was happy -it was no infinity, jl setup.. but for $150 for the hu, front/rear speakers AND amp... that setup blew my mind.. i was almost pised at how good it was cause my infinity and jl speakers were about 200 each for the sets, and those pyles were less then 50 for each set.. and while my main system woulda crushed it.. those pyles man... ill just never get over that lol

oh yeah i didnt go over too many "this is what you do when speakers crackle" other then check your basic wireing and try it with an amp.. so if you are sure everythign is right then maybe some other members can help ya soon. im out of time casue i rambled here so much lol.

but honestly before you do anything i would try amping those, if there anythign like the ones i had, they really sounded BAD without an amp.. like REALLY BAD..

cyngz, have you upgraded your front speakers yet? If your looking for some, check out these: http://www.elantraxd.com/forums/showthread.php?t=21347. Never has used Pyle, but as long as your happy with, I applaud you. Anything is better than stock. Also, def get an aftermarket head unit.

Thanks for the replies, it seems all the connections are correct so i'll install the amp this eve.

xd, yeah i've already got all my speakers. going to install the 6.5's in the doors, head unit, and amp this eve. I'm building a custom box for my 2 12's so those won't be going in until this weekend.

Are yall talking about amping the 6x9 speakers and the front ones? Wouldn't there be a huge risk of blowing them? Sorry for the stupid questions I just never knew bout that I always thought amps were just for the subs...

Sure you can amp all your speakers (above poster).

So I installed the head unit and amp(another issue ) and amped up the 6x9's. Well the same issue continues. So unless they require more than 200w apeice i'm not sure what the deal is. My only other thought would be that maybe they need to be individually grounded??? I did hook the 6.5's and the oem 6x0's to the amp and the regular wires and they work and sound fine. So i'll be troubleshooting a bit more this eve.

Now for the wiring of the head unit. After blowing a few fuses because the harness seems to be incorrectly configured or maybe its been way to long since I've done any of this (like 10 years). I've managed to get the thing working. Although my constant power is not working corretly.

Does anyone have the wiring schematic for the 02 Elantra GLS? If you have a PDF or anything please let me know.

So when you amped the speakers did you use the factory wire, or did you run wire strait from the amp to the speakers (thats the better way of doing it). Then you can eliminate the wiring as the issue. Also with any car speaker you should not have to ground the speaker in a special way, if the speakers are still sounding like something is wrong and the stockys work just fine then i would start to lean toward the speakers having a problem. If you didnt already try your stock speakers with the amp (gain at min and vol low of course) and see if they sound ok.

Also are you using high inputs on your amp (speaker line) or rcas? becasue rcas are 100x clearer and speaker line can cause issues.. but once again if you hook the stock speaks to teh amp and their fine, then that X's out that possability..

The funny thing about the Headunit is that there seems to be no constant? I have the red and yellow together. that seems to be the only way it would turn on. I didn't test each wire(aside from speaker wires), which is what it seems i'll have to do tonight.

I have the tested the 6x9's like this:

Headunit to Amp via RCA's
Amp direct to 6x9's
(rear stock wires remain empty)

I also tested the these:

1st.amp: OEM6x9 work / Pyle6x9 fail / 12's work
2nd.amp: same same same

I'll check some other things out and see what happens. It sounds to me like the 6x9's are bad as well......

ok 6x9's well I got me some Sony Explodes and the connecters dont match up (there is no little clip thing to hook into). My friend found a converter but is the wrong size and said he can get me the piece I just need to know the polarity.....so can some one get me a polarity or link of some sort

either look for a speaker adapter or just say **** it and just connect the connectors and hook up the bare wire to the speakers.
If you hunt around for audio peeps you will find that at least 1/2 if not more them people just do it that way. if you cant find the adapter just cut it / save it in case you want to go back to factory, and just connect the wire to the speakers terminals. the speaker should have the hot and ground listed in its manual and if you find a wire diagram for the car you should be able to find the same. if you hook it up backwards the speaker will move in reverse instead of forwards. so if your lazy just get a song with some bass, fade to the rear, hook up the bare speaker wire to the terminals and see which way it moves. if it moves forward your in business, either soldier or tie up the wire and electrical tape it , or get wire crimp connectors and a crimper and use those.
