I wanna drift!!!

Like the title says i just had a 93 ford thunderbird given to me. It was my father in-laws car. It has a 3.8 v-6 and only 78,000 miles on it. It runs like a top. Regular maintainance is his thing he gets real anal about me putting off oil changes for like 1-200 miles. Anyways i am thinking about gutting it and putting a cage in and start drifting. If mikie swarts can drift with a 92 dodge ram 50 w/ a 4g63-t from a 90 eagle talon why can't i drop like a 351 cleveland in this thing and have some fun? Does anyone know if there are any ameture leagues in/ around pa new jersey virginia or ohio? i have this undying passion to drift but I keep letting myself get away from it. What do you guys think? I am pretty comfortable behind the wheel and have done some drifting before (not legally) but I wanna go about this in an honest straightforward way. I have a positive and realistic outlook on things and am not expecting to be great at it right away? But with time and practice who know where this would go?

Well, screw the 351. The thing to do here is drop in a Ford V8, Mustang style, 5.0 if you can find it. And a manual transmission. Then you'll want an LSD, and lower suspension. Those would be my first mods if I chose to do a drift car out of a T-Bird.

just supercharge the block that in it. The 3.8 isn't a bad motor.

theres a guy here who had a little later thunderbird, put a 4.6l mustang GT motor in it, paxton S/C, nitrous, 20" chrome wheels, custom paint...show car 100% but it was slick and moderately quick

the car is pretty quick. I went down to her parents house to drive it. it needs the suspension tightened up a bit. (I took it out to my cabin for a little rally drift on private grounds) Thanks dad for the gate keys! . I had fun i was suprised at how responsive the throttle is. And it was relatively easy to throw it slide-ways but its a dirt road. I told her father about my plans for the car and he said that it was great he'd help me do it however he could.
I was thinking of going S/C with the 3.8 . Some come factory tuned supercharged that way. same body newer model year. I also have some ford gear head buddies that say the mustang limited slip rear will bolt right on. I need to do some researching first before i go balls deep here.

there right the mustang limited slip will fit right in. i had a 97 thunder bird with the same 3.8L and i loved it i put some dule exaust and headers and it kicked ***. i loved how long the car was but when sliding sidways it handles great....

i remamber lots of time going to the highschool parking lot after rain or when it snowed and just sliding like crazy..

Thunderbird...

at Beaver Run last year there was a Thunderbird doing the drift course, it was actually holding its own against the 240's that were there.
