nexen 2000 tires way to soft

so i finally got some cash and got some new performance tires the nexen 2000:



k well the tires are REALLY soft does it suppose to be that way?. I can squeeze them with my hand while they are on the car and inflated to 35psi . is this normal??

as for handling they are really good at taking turns fast but if i take them to the limit they squeal oh and i cant start going from 3000RPM because they spin. is this whats suppose to happen?

I've never heard of that brand of tire.

Soft can be good for traction, but I don't quite follow what you are saying on their softness. Does the whole tire squish or something when you push on it. If that's the case, you do not have enough air in the tire. If it's just the tread that pushes, then you can kiss those tires good bye in less than 20K miles.

ya its the tread that pushes. but it was either them or keep my stock ones with no thread left on them. i did pay $400 canadian for the set at walmart. well i guess well see what happens

Check the inflation numbers. A lot of "high performance" tires can be inflated to 44 psi or above maximum. You can fill them up to the maximum pressure, just don't exceed it!

I've found with cheap Kumho 711 tires that they handle much better at 44 psi.

^^ My 711's seemed to like to auto-x at about 45psi.

ya they do go up to 44psi but i filled them to 35 as the car manual says. Maybe i should try that

Huh... the car manual for mine calls for 28 psi.

I think you'll find that the traction, braking and cornering are improved at 44 psi. The ride will be a bit rougher, but IMO it's a worthwhile trade. Your fuel economy might go up a little bit, too.

yeah def put some more air in and see how it handles. i ran all my tires at (Front)41-(Rear)39 psi

35psi for those tires is way to low, bump it up to 40psi and try from there.

I wouldn't put more than 40, because as the tire warms up, the air inside gets warmer and expands, bring the the PSI up at least to 44 psi.

well i found the problem, you guys were right they were all under inflated even though i asked the guy who istalled them to put 35psi in there and he said he did but the psi was:21,32,29,35. i put 42 psi and now they handle great.

Good job -- I'm glad you double checked your tire pressures.


Unfortunately it seems you can't trust anyone to do things right these days. I always double check whatever anyone else did whenever I have anything serviced on the car.
