Default Removing driver's side window switch assembly?

How do I remove the driver's side window switch assembly? Do I need to remove the door panel or does the assembly pop out?

-I tried just prying the switch assembly out with the door panel in place, but the assembly feels like it's locked in place with a backplate.

-If you do have to remove the door panel, how is that done? I tried removing all of the door trim screws and the triangular panel behind the mirror, but the door trim wouldn't budge. Do I need fully undo the door latch as well (I only removed the screw holding the trim on it ).

    Thanks for your help.

Yes, you need to remove the door panel.

There are 2 screws on the side of the door, near were the door meets up with the B pillar when the door is closed.

There are 2 screws underneath covers below the grab-handle of the door.

There is the screw where the interior handle is as well.

Also check that there are no screws on the bottom - it's been a while since I've had mine apart.

After removing all these screws, you can pull the door panel off. There are a few "clips" that hold it on even after the screws are all out, so you will need to pull gently.

Be careful you don't pull too far, because there are wires attached to that door panel that run into the door.

    EDIT:

Sorry to dig up a really old thread, but I'm trying to go through this process now to clean out the switch contacts (the master switch on my car no longer works for the passenger side front window) and having some trouble.

I took off the door panel but then I had no idea what to do from there. It wasn't clear on the underside of the switch assembly how to remove it. There are 2 clips, but even pushing them in didn't allow me to push the assembly out without a great amount of force (and I was afraid of breaking it).

    Any ideas? Thanks much.
