    Default F%$!ing Heatshields

    Wassup peeps,

I have a '95 Elantra GLS and had a general question about heatshields.

I know that messing with the cat heatshield is a big no-no, but is there a downside to taking off the other ones? Why do they put them in cars anyway, is it just to keep you from getting burned or does it keep temperatures down inside the engine compartment?

Right now i just want to them cause they have come a little loose and the car is making this horrible rattling sound.

yeah, that was a known problem with those old g4 mitsu motor exhaust systems...

you could have them re-welded at the muffler shop if you want.. remove them at your own risk.. cats can get very hot and possibly melt things around them...
