Thank you Bob for your response about the O2 sensor. It makes sense now.
And I have never heard of the scangauge. Pretty cool.

1000 to fix a speed gauge? no way in hell.
I have the same code.. What is that?At Autozone will give few completely diferent version and dont`know wich one to believe...
I get about 400-430 miles on a tank, but out of that about 370 are on the interstate highway every week. I have a 40 mile commute each way. Work is about 1 mile from the highway exit and I live about 2 miles from the highway.
I just filled up and put in 14.35 gallons ($51!).

The best mileage I've ever gotten was when the car was 2-3 years old and I was driving from Orlando to my parent's house. Google Maps puts that at 444 miles. When I pulled into my parents driveway, it read I still had 1/4 tank remaining.
I have gotten it over 500 ONCE after that. Now though, driving almost 100% freeway at 72-75mph I'm lucky to break 400. Something wrong with the gas up here.

I just filled up my tank with $40 which is about 15 gallons. Ill post my mileage when im at E.

This is kind of like the question how many licks does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie pop from the Vintage commercial. (Showing my age) I usually bite at the lowest price at the pump in one of the three states I travel through regulary, So I never get to the real answer of how many miles on a tank of gas. My 2011 doesnt have a 15 gallon tank, but I sure appreciate never having to spend more than $30 at the gas pump.

My Elantra began life as a GLS. Hoping to turn it into a "Super GLS"
Well I know I'm not on crack.... I drove 722km with mine. I drove from Blenheim, Ontario (Canada) to Ottawa, Ontario on a tank. When I shut it off I could have still gone 70km (GT edition tells you how far you can go). So I guess I could have almost hit 800km :o.
I'll remember to smoke some crack before my next trip to get maximum fuel economy though![]()
So my gas light turned on at 202 miles. This was over a week of daily use for school and work. I do deliveries but that week was slow and the days i worked were Thursday-Sunday.
I'm a mixed driver but i still don't see why i have such low gas mileage. I might have an idea though. About a year ago my step dad hooked up the code reader for check engine lights(forgot what its called) and the code was an O2 sensor. A few months back i had the light up again and it was a code po455 evap syst, leak large. Maybe that has something to do with my low mileage?

I have a light on for my evap as well! Stupid mechanic fixed something but the light came back on later and I don't feel like fixing something else that isn't wrong with it. I get good mileage though.
a ton of people claim to have gotten over 400mpt
i didnt run a full tank from top off to out of gas, but when i did my obx trip 2 years ago i did the milage and was getting a constant 32mpg.
which if i ran it dry would push me to 400 in theory
I only gotten over 450+ in 1 thank once, that was when the car was completely 100% stock, I did a road trip to las vegas at a steady 70mph with no traffic all the way both ways.
trick was I fueled up, reset my trip A on the dash, left home at midnight and got there around 5am, did the same on the way home a few days later, I calculated the mpg at 38+ at the gas pump. it all depends what kind of driving you do and how you drive. I drive mostly highway so I usually average 29-31mpg driving to work.
When I die, I want to die like my grandfather–who died peacefully in his sleep. Not screaming like all the passengers in his car.
