Default 03 Elantra Fan not working

I have an 03 Elantra with 101,000 mi. The car is overheating and the Ac is blowing hot air. All the fluids are full. When I looked under the hood the fan on the right was not working. What could cause this, and how much would it be to fix?

    Welcome to EXD.

Do you have a picture of which fan? That might help.

If facing the car with the hood up. (passenger side to your left) The condenser fan is on the left, radiator fan to the right. The radiator fan is slight bigger than the condenser fan. You meant right side as driver right?

The common factor is that both systems require air to flow through the condenser and radiator to allow cooling. So something is wrong with that right fan. The problem is not as bad at highway speeds correct?

Four Relays and two fuses handle this operation, they are all in the engine compartment fuse box.

I could be wrong, but from the wiring diagram, it appears that both fans should be in operation (spinning) at the same time. The fans are wired together at low speed so that power flows through both fans. This causes them to spin slowly. When the A/C is in operation, both fans get dedicated power to spin at full speed.

Does either fan operate when the A/C is off? When you looked under the hood, the A/C was on correct?

    It could be:
Blown 20A Rad fuse in engine fuse box
    Bad ground
    Bad radiator fan relay
    Bad condenser fan Relay.2
No signal coming from ECU to turn on Radiator fan

Yes, that is the fan that is not working. The other fan spins when the AC is on and not the one on the drivers side. I have not had the car at highway speeds cause I can only go so far before the car starts to overheat. Where is the engine compartment fuse box located?

Engine compartment fusebox is on the driver side next to the battery.

So the working fan only spins when the AC is on? Nothing spins when the AC is off?

Do you have a volt meter? Unplug the non working fan and see if you get power there. If not, try the working fan to test your meter. Nothing there, try the battery.

Hey everyone just wanted to let you know that the car was fixed today. It was the thermostat and relay for the fan. Thanks so much for your advice!
