Default A/C gets hot when car stopped

Hey guys, I have an XD2, with 83,555 miles on it. My A/C gets warm and starts blowing hot air when the car is not moving. Once it begins to move again it will begin to blow cold after awhile. Is my freeon low? Or what else can I check?

Does both fans run when the A/C is on and is sitting still?

I am not responsible if your car blows up, use common sense and proper safety precautions.

it could also be from low freon or the a/c compressor is getting weak and needs to be replaced, or as those 2 said, ya could only have 1 fan workin, but if you only have 1 fan running it would make the engine run warmer and you would see the gauge move, and not just feel the a/c get warm

Likely a fan issue. My friend just had the same problem.

If i filled my gas tank with half Shell with V-Power, and the other half with Chevron with Techron gas...does that mean that my gas is V-TEC?

Yup, just checked tonight, both fans never stop spinning. ( Radiator Fans I'm assuming you are speaking of)

I'm leaning towards that option now. Just have to wait until payday to buy some and find out. (the freon..that is)

It has nothing to do with a fan. When you drop the engine RPMs, such as at a stop, the compressor spins at a lower speed. This compresses less A/C coolant, so there is less to decompress and cool. Want to test it? Put the car in neutral at a stop and give it some gas.

I would think you need a recharge of the A/C.

I have the same issue, but why would I be getting the same problem with HEAT in the winter. If I set at a light at idle the AC kicks off, and the same thing happens to the heat when it is cold out.

First thought would be that the higher engine RPMs keep the water pump moving coolant through the engine and the heater core. Slow down the engine = less coolant to go through the heater core and provide heat. That's another set of issues. Things to check there would be thermostat, hoses, water pump, heater core. Do you still have the original T-stat? Those are wear-n-tear items that need to be replaced every so often.
