Default Where are the top of the rear struts on a elantra?

Looking to replace all four sides, need to locate the top retaining bolts in the rear.

    1. Loosen the bolts holding the rear seatback and remove the rear seatback assembly.

    2. Remove the rear strut upper mounting nuts(3).

    3. Remove the wheel and tire.

    4. Disconnect the brake hose and wheel speed sensor wiring from the rear strut.

    5. Remove the stabilizer bar link.

    6. Remove the strut and carrier mounting bolts(2).

Be careful not to drop the rear strut.

    7. Remove the rear strut assembly.

Do I have to remove the whole rear seat?

I wanted to also change the fuel filter, may be a good opportunity to do both jobs.

That's not for a Tiburon. That is installing Tiburon struts on an Elantra. The instructions and pictures are of an Elantra.

You don't have to but it's easier in my opinion to just remove the whole thing.

How many miles on the car? There's really no need to do it before 100K miles. But yes, if the rear seat is out you might as well change the fuel filter.

What am I looking at in the top pic, the one showing the top of the strut?
    Right above,
"3. Remove the wheel and tire. "?

Where in the car is this pic depicting? Is that the rear seat? Folded down or what? Its a bit confusing.

Might I suggest going to a mechanic?

Yes, if you remove the rear seat you will see the upper rear strut mount. It is located behind the upper portion of the rear seat.

You can get those nuts off by just removing the seat side bolsters and folding the seat backs down as well, just going to be some tighter wrenching.
