Default How to remove stuck spark plug wires?

Recently I changed the spark plugs and spark plug wires of my '03 Elantra. When I replaced the spark plugs, I used di-electric grease on the new plug threads according to the advice to prevent them from sticking to the engine.

When it is time to replace the spark plug wires, it started to rain. So I was in a hurry and I didn't have time to apply grease on the spark plug wire boots and I just replaced without grease. A couple of days later, I tried to remove the wires from the plugs, but they were already stuck and I couldn't pull them out. If I force, I would damage the new wires.

Probably I need to leave them for another 60,00 miles until it is time to change again. At that time I may have to break the wires to pull them out. What do you think?

First time I replaced plugs on my '04 Elantra (now 140,000 mi) one of the plug wire boots tore off at the top, so I used a long nose hemostat (great invention!) to get down into the narrow recess and remove the rest of the boot that was stuck to the plug, so I could get a socket on the plug.

Hit the gym while accumulating those 60,000 or so miles, and they won't be a problem

They can be tough and break sometimes but hey, live and learn right?

The next time you talk to your boss with a booger hanging from your nose, or leave the house with your fly open, think of it this way:
At least you didn't just get outrun by a 13-year-old Hyundai sedan with drum brakes
