Thanks to Nick,
Best part, it's Kitteh approved! Now to find a way to run this thing without a CEL... I don't wanna run a cat.
i think the CEL is linked to where the o2 senors are, like mine only reads 2 of the pipes so thats why i think it throws a CEL
Well I know the o2 sensors are there for a reason. The first is used for closed loop ECU operations, and the second is looking for a change when compared to the readings of the first, in order to check if the cat is working. Nick got a bung welded to right after the collector, and that's where the primary o2 will sit, getting full readings from all 4 cylinders. I just have to find a way to trick the secondary, so it will STFU and not give me a CEL when I install this. OBD2 sucks.
So I might've found a shop that quoted me really good to fix the rust on the quarters! They just opened up and are offering lower prices to expand. My buddy's MX3 is in there for a full paintjob, I'm waiting to see how it comes out and then gonna pull the trigger if it comes out well. So far from what I've seen, they do good work.
Here are the girls:

Nice! What did they quote you for both quarters?
You're still up eh! Haha
I got quoted $50-75/hole. He said what I have is about 4 holes. It does not include paint, just sealer primer. He also said since I'm doing them all at once he'll cut me a deal, around $150-200. Rust cut out, new sheetmetal fabricated and welded in. I might get him to fully clean it up and base/clear it if the price is right, and if I like how the Precidia turns out.
Whaaaa! That's crazy cheap. Let me know if he does a good job!
Will do![]()
Due to the DSM deciding it did not like it's new transmission, which has about 6K miles since the full rebuild, the Elantra is gonna be back on the road as of today till I can get it fixed, if I'm motivated to. I'm looking forward to the A/C![]()
Silly DSM, summers are for hyundais!
^^ hahaha![]()
abby has cancer
Probably hard to avoid up there in canada though, maybe you should paint the whole car in undercoating or bedliner? After you get rid of that rust.
Abby is white and has nice lines.
Ever since I have been powerbraking, my car leaves 4 feet of rubber on the road. Thats with really sticky proxes 4's tooIt makes having an auto a lot more fun.
She looks so at home in the city. I love that third shot.
They ran over my car, quite literally.
3rd shot is sig worthy looks good minus the cancer lol
STANCE WILL MAKE HER DANCE
Songee, I like the 4th and 5th shots the best as well! Although the others are nice too. They were taken from my phone, I should go back once with my point-and-shoot or my dad's DSLR to get something less blurry.
As for the cancer... yeah, it's getting badI would love to get it fixed, but I'm still debating if it's worth it or not on a car with 290,000 kms. Althought I don't see it breaking down anytime soon, I would hate to drop the money into the bodywork just to have stuff go on me. But we shall see, I do love the car. It would be getting painted back to the OEM white, no bedliner
As for the DSM, hopefully soon. I'm going to go pick up a used stock transmission to keep temporarly. I'm looking forward to going back to the stock gear ratios, right now the tranny I blew has the Evo I gearset. As bad as this sounds, I have had the tranny off this thing about twice or three times per year, so everything comes out really smooth. I can have the tranny out by myself in a few hours![]()
If its surface rust, you can sand it down, then put some body filler on it, then paint.
Maybe you should make abby your full time build instead of the DSM. It must be fun having a fast dsm, but it would be more fun with a fast elantra.
Naming a car is hard, I would get too attached. Especially on a car with that high mileage(kilometerage? lol) and cancer, because if things took a turn for the worse it would be hard to handle. Good to see that you are taking good care of her though.

It's beyond surface rust on the quarters, especially the driver side. I was able to get my finger through it from one side to the otherI'm mainly concerned about the quarters and rockers... however, the doors all have rust at the bottoms. Fenders have rust where they meet the bumper. Hood has rust. The only thing that doesn't have rust is the roof and trunk. Even the fuel door has a tad on the inside, although that can be fixed in 10 minutes with some sandpaper.
As for making the Hyundai my main build, never. It'll never make ~520 hp without needing serious money, and even if it did... It's still FWD. I like the Elantra as a nice reliable car I can always count on, that's great on gas, and headache free
BTW, I don't know how you get your tires to leave 4 foot marks on the dry ground. Even with my old ****ty worn down tires I can maybe get a chirp if I stall then take off![]()
Theres a ralphs with some new smooth asphalt behind the store and I just step on the brakes then the gas at the same time. When I let off the brakes the car jolts forward and one wheel starts to spin then the other catches. Leaving a good sized tire mark. It also helps that one of my tires has very little tread on it.
