Default My rear defrost may not be fully working? (Pics)

I warmed up my car this morning & I turned on the rear defrost & when I went out I found most of the rear window heated up except for the top part. The snapshot shows that there are 6 rows that are more together than the rest of the window but they look like they should be heating up but are not.

Can anyone with a 2011 Elantra confirm if they should work or not?

    Thanks!!

Definitely looks like it isn't working to me.

I'd like to see other people's defrost in action as well though.

The top lines are the radio antenna, not the defroster. Not sure how many of the lines are antenna vs defroster but usually the antenna is a few lines. I'll let another UD Elantra owner comment on how their deforster works but I don't believe there is a problem with yours.

I thought the fin above the rear window was the radio antenna.

It is a 2011, just go by the dealership and ask them about it, if it needs to be fixed have the warranty take care of it.

Oh, antenna. Good point. Aintnonred, maybe the fin is for the XM/Sirius only?

And if that's the case I'm sure there is something in the owner's manual about it.

James is correct. The fin is just for satellite radio. AM/FM reception is from a wire antenna in the rear window glass. He doesn't need to go to the dealer because nothing is wrong/broken.

If you look at the second pic above, the wires at the top that aren't defrosting the window are actually closer together than the wires that are defrosting the window.

That's a cool idea to utilize that space for AM/FM antenna!! At least I know and nothing is wrong

My question is... when you are in the driver's seat does that area where there is no defrost mess with your ability to see out the back or is it high enough (or hidden enough) from your view that it doesn't matter?

I don't think it messes with your view. More so for me I keep looking at it because I thought it should be working

The AM/FM antenna in my wifes Kia Sedona minivan (Hyundai Entourage clone) are in both the 2 rear-most side windows. The ones that fold out (#4 below):

Looks like mine in the am. Just wish I had a rear wiper, like an accent that saw.
My Elantra began life as a GLS. Hoping to turn it into a "Super GLS"
