    Default Alarm failure

I've had no alarm for a while, and my key fob hasnt been working, Either. I replaced the battery in my key fob and it still does not work. Any suggestions?

I would offer to race you, But I don't think the bus stops here.

You may have to re-sync your fob/s to the ETACS. If the car lost power for an extended period of time, it could have lost the remotes.

Test to see if it is unlocking, but not locking. This will verify it is synced correctly, and tell you that a door/trunk/hood open plunger is not getting closed.

Check hood, trunk, and door plungers to make sure they are working and getting depressed when closed. Hood has a rubber stopper to press the plunger, make sure that is in place.

i had a problem before like that and i couldn't figure it out for the longest time. one day, i realized that my drivers door wasn't locking with the rest of the power locks, and since it wasn't locking, the alarm wouldn't arm and my car wouldn't chirp. to solve this i just manually locked the drivers door as i got out.

    hope that helps.

I'm going to assume my problem is because of damage to the hood itself...Since I hit a deer, and decided I'd rather drive it as is and get a cf hood...Neither of the rubber stops are touched by the hood...Now I know the problem...lol.

Thanks again guys...I'll probably have the old lady take off her shoes and stand on the corner thats not touching to try my theory...Just because...Before only the lock and alarm features worked...and it blinked but didnt chirp.

It's not the front rubber stoppers, but sounds like the alarm one won't touch if those won't. The rubber stopper for this is attached to the hood, and switch is in the engine bay.

Its about mid way the passenger side. Inside the engine bay.

^Yeah. If that switch isn't being depressed, you have no alarm.

Tried holding down the switch today and ash hitting the lock/unlock/alarm and still nothing. Going to switch batteries in the key fob again and retry. Any other suggestions if it still doesnt respond after a new battery?

& smileymatt I read into that DIY munky wrote and it says it wont work for xd2?

Yea, sorry don't know what I was thinking. XD2 is supposed to be a dealer only program. The XD2 doesn't even have the button on it's ETACS.

Hmmm...If I could remember my all data info I'd probably be able to find out if there's a way without taking it in...

    What data?

I'd assume it has to be done through the ODB-II port. I took apart an XD2 ETACS thinking maybe they hide it, but there was no sync button inside.
