I know what the flapper is. I am talking about the thing directly under the turbine that I am fiddling with from 10-14 seconds in the video.

Aha whoopsie! LOL Guess I didn't read your post properly my bad. It's been a while since I've had a turbo apart in front of me but it looks like a heat shield, check the diagram and part listed here for the TD05 Rebuild kits and the heat shield part they have for sale. Kinda hard to say exactly from your video. http://gpopshop.com/products-page/mi...-rebuild-kits/ hopefully someone else can confirm if it is or say what it is.
Edit: If it is the heat shield I think the play is normal and it's kept in place when the housing is put on.

^^^yep...once you put on the turbine housing it will stay in place
I think I am going to try to get this put together March 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th.
Ill take a personal day from work on the friday, and I get Saturday, Sunday after church, and Monday off. Ill do my work Saturday, get the mobile mechanic to come up on Sunday, and take it to the performance shop on Monday for the tuning.
Magic, when can we run to that shop to check about fabrication?
i would have loved to help you out with install and everything...but you picked the one weekend i wont be here lol. my sister is getting married that weekend. but i usually have tuesdays and thursdays off...
Haha, i might choose another weekend then :p
Lol...don't le t me hold you up. Weekends generally aren't a good time for me anyways since I rarely have off work. Sometimes I will get a Sunday off but never a Saturday unless I request it...and if I ask for a Saturday off and its not spent with the wife she will be pissed lol.
By the way...don't know if you still have the PM but just text me. A lot easier that way and you will get a quicker response from me...that is if you want one lol.
Sweet, you got yourself a DSM flanged turbo! Now, your video is a bit blurry. Can you read me the numbers in the compressor housing? Is it 49178-01410? Because if that's the number it's a 14B if memory serves me right. The 6cm2 hotside gives it away for me. Unless somebody swapped out the hotside on a 16G and downgraded it for you.
Can you get me a quick clear picture of the compressor wheel?

I am led to believe it is a 14b from the research I have done.
Yup, that is a 14B. Small, but overall not bad turbochargers. Flow something like 30lbs/min. Full boost you should see somewhere in the 2,000's. It's been years since I owned a 14B powered 2.0L, but I liked the turbo for what it is. The beauty? Once you have your car setup for that, you can bolt any DSM flanged turbo on. Another 14B, a big/small/E3 16G, 20G, FP86HTA, DSM flanged 50 trim, 60-1, etc. You won't run out of options unless you plan on making more than ~700hp to the wheels lol.
Unfortunately I sold/gave away all the spare wastegate actuators I had, I just kept one for the 2 14B's I have. You should find one easily, if not let me know I will post a WTB for you on the DSM boards.
How much did you get that 14B for if you don't mind me asking?
$140 before shipping, $160ish after
Dont tell me I over paid plzzzzz :p
And one of these will work perfectly right?

^^^ Like mentioned before, not necessarily - it might put the turbo too low down to get a proper drain done. You're better off with a DSM flanged manifold or if you already have a manifold with other flange then cut it off and have a DSM flange positioned/welded on just how you want so that way the turbo is at a more normal height for getting a drain line done. Just my 2 cents and what I would do.

I wish they were flat![]()
Yeah, just run a manifold that's DSM flanged at the turbo.
The build is going to be pushed back atleast a week because that weekend is my "Engagement Anniversary" Weekend. We will be in DC that weekend.
My only issue is that I have already bought a turbo header for the car :/
AEM FIC came in today.
Turbo Manifold, Intercooler+piping, vac block, Turbo Timer, Bov and actuator are in the mail.

The manifold I have may work for you...maybe we can trade![]()
We will see what we can do
Mine is off an alpine kit, ill send pics when it comes in.
Ok I will see about getting some of mine today
is it already fabricated to fit or will I need to get some fabrication done
It was previously used on a tiburon so I am assuming it fits
