I already said I would do that, when it's time. We need to decide when and where we want to be.
I would be willing to help organize this meet as far as the hotels go anyway. We would need to get a head count of all that would go. Not people who might go but people who will actualy show up. The earlier we plan this the more successful the meet will be.
Trying to organize something like this a month or two before is suicide and we just all be setting ouselves up to fail. So..... Ilanpro you started the post so this is your call. Do we start to get organized and gat a few other people to help out? Or do we wait and have a ****ty time?![]()
P.S. YAY

car is finally running better, still have the after market header sitting in my storage room - no need for it though
Just a point of info for everyone, if the plan is to spend more than one day at the falls, I would recommend staying there. Between Buffalo and the falls is a toll road and you have to pay each way on every trip. Not sure what the current cost is, haven't been there in a while.
As for the suggestion to meet up in syracuse, that wouldn't work for me or others coming from the west. We would drive past Buffalo to get there and then have to turn around and head back. I would just meet you guys in Buffalo.
Hmm good thing you pointed that out, I didn't know that![]()

Oh yeah...by the way, I'm in if this is going to happen! Would be a really nice trip and I like the idea about going to the sport compact show also....there are some important companies that go to these things, and maybe if they see a strong showing of modded elantras we might be able to get them to start making mods for us....also just a thought, but once we get all the plans finalized, if we are def. going to the car show, sponsorships??? We know some people from sharkracing and kspec, so would this be a possibility?![]()

I might, MIGHT, be sponsored by Pioneer or Memphis by then so we'll see. I think it is time we make a new thread, lock it, and have an Admin update it when we get things decided. Maybe put a poll on it to determine the best dates, events everyone wants. Just an idea. ADMINS?
odes is a moderator and i think he is working on plans i dunno, he doesnt seem to post alot hopefully he will respond

I read all of your messages and looking at your thoughts. No need to post for every reply made.
I'm not gonna lock this yet, just give more ideas and I want to see more people involved in this. So far I like most of the things that you guys said and consider them all. It's also a little to early to make any plans and setup dates. We will do it when it gets closer.

Odessit, why would you not want to start planning and organizing this event now? Like it's been said a number of times in this thread the earlier the better. The longer we sit on this without setting a date the less likely people are to show up. Major events are always planned ahead. Look at the Sema show; they just had it a month ago. They already have the 2005 date set. Like I said before if we wait there will be less turnout. Why don't we make a plan to have a set date by say, the end of Jan? Then we can get a head count of people who want to go and get hotel info.
I really would like this to be a successful turnout and it would really suck if people couldn't go and meet the people they talk to on a daily basis.
P.S. Why would you lock this thread?

its already 6 pages long and alot of people dont like reading long threads thats probably the reason

If you guys are planning a major roadtrip like this, it will definitely need to be planned way ahead in advance to figure out the costs and to collect any deposits and what not. If I could, I'd drive from the West Coast just to join, but my time doesn't permit me to do that.
As far as tolls are concerned, it's not anything expensive. The toll is for some lame bridge you cross on the American side if I remembered correctly. Since you guys are in the East Coast, you're all pretty familiar with toll roads to begin with, something that was a new concept for a West Coast native. I never realized why our highways were called "free"ways until I drove on the East Coast. The tolls for Niagara were nowhere near as bad as all the tolls in NYC.
If you visit Niagara Falls, it's almost pointless driving that far and not crossing the border. The best view of the falls will be from the Canadian side. If I get a chance I"ll upload a picture I took from my hotel room, where I stayed at the Embassy Suites in Niagara Falls, Canada.
I don't know if you guys will want to stay overnight across the border or not, because things in Canada generally cost more. For example, a typical Denny's dinner will cost you almost 2x as much. They are trying to make the town a bit touristy, but when I went during the summer, it seemed a bit dead, at least compared to Vegas. The Casino used to be in the bad part of town, but by now they should have a huge hotel with a large casino that's closer to the main part of town. The Embassy Suite w/ parking and after all the Canadian taxes came out to around $189 U.S. per night. If you have the money, it's completely worth it.
Oh and another thing to remember, if you're going to cross the border, just to save yourself some time and hassle (especially if you are foreign born like me), please bring your passport with you. It is not required, but coming back in will be a LOT easier. Crossing the border you'll only need your driver's license and a reason why you're visiting. But upon coming back, you will be grilled with some questions.
Apparently, because my girlfriend was white, and I'm a naturalized U.S. citizen born in Thailand, they had enough suspicion to pull us aside for more than an hour and a half for questioning. In the end, I could not prove my citizenship through the use of their ****ty computer systems, but the head officer interviewed me and really could not find a reason to detain me, especially when I speak perfect English and I only visited Gananoque for the day. He apologized and let me on my way, but that wasted an hour and a half of my time. They went through all our bags and belongings in our car. I've heard other horror stories where they pry and break things in your car and then do not claim responsibility. Luckily they didn't tear our rental apart. The moral of the story, in today's world if you're going to be crossing the border, have your proper papers on you to save yourself and the officers some time.
I hope you all get to make this trip happen. It'll be a lot of fun.
