Double DIN

Thinking of upgrading the audio in my 2006. Besides the wiring harness(es) and mounting kit are there any other mods to the dash or anything like that or should it fit right in and the dash pieces fit right back in place??

It's double din sized, so you won't have any issues. You could even make the mounting kit if you want.

Yea the xd makes double din so easy hahah it's almost frustrating to me as an hd owner =]

Does anyone know if this is different for a european dash compared to the u.s. version?

I don't think so. I think it's the same dash worldwide, other than the 2 left-hand or right-hand drive versions. The stuff stuck in the openings may be different (audio systems, auto/manual climate control, buttons), but the dash itself should be the same.

Right now i got this single din opening, with a opening underneath for carpapers or something.
However, this opening isn't as wide as the single din. So i think i need to cut it wider if i want a double din :X

As you can see, got this picture of a euro dash. So id probably have to cut the edges around the opening:

woah, that is not the same..
your control dials are in a larger piece of plastic, and the plastic surround for the whole dash insert is like "part" of the setup. whereas on my 06 it was not.

You could swap to the US dash. But first check behind to see the width of the openings.

It's going to be more work than i was hoping for. I'm going ot try to get a US dash :P
