    Default Car overheating .... still....

After my big incident with the car overheating and blowing the headgasket, we have changed the thermostat and the radiator and it is still overheating.

We changed the thermostat because the car would get hot then drop back down, get hot, then drop back down, so it made sense that the thermostat was sticking.

Then the car would continue to overheat, it would just take longer. We pulled back into the house and noticed the radiator bubbling at the top . . . so we though leaking radiator, okay we will replaced that.

Replaced the radiator, now it is still over heating. It doesnt seem like there is much coolant running through the hoses, you have to like pinch the hoses in order to be able to feel anything running . . . we are replacing the water pump today and hopefully that will fix everything. The water pump seems to be all that could still be wrong with it. New headgasket, the head it self is in good condition, replaced thermostat and radiator.

What do you guys think it could be?

If not water pump, possible obstruction in the heater core?

Since you are going to have your engine drained of coolant to replace your water pump, I'd also check your new thermostat again just to make sure it wasn't damaged during the recent overheating. I had something like this occur where my car was overheating due to a cracked radiator so I replaced it but it continued to overheat. Turned out that my newish thermostat had gotten too hot and the wax inside leaked out leaving it stuck closed. Swapped in another new thermostat, bled the coolant, and all was well after that. It's just good to make sure it's fine just in case.

Oh and if it's your heater core that is blocked, would you not get hot air through the vents? I would run the car for a while and try to turn the heat on just to see if it gets hot like it's supposed to. Otherwise, I'm not sure what else it could be but I'll think on it.
