Default Success oil catch can install (hopefully!)

So recently I installed my oil catch can and was wondering if those who have done it before could give my pics a quick glance to see if all looks good. I hear air through the filter on top of it and also see a bit of sludge in the hoses but I'd rather be safe than sorry. Thanks in advance as always!!

    I would have to disagree.

The way you are running it would be best suited with a sealed catch can. One should only run a catch can with a breather if both lines are run to the valve cover, and the nipple on the IM blocked off. The way you have it now, what is happening is you're creating a vacuum leak past the throttle body. Your engine is now sucking air through your intake, and as well as through the line which leads to the catch can, through the breather. So instead of using that suction from the vacuum in the IM to suck out the fumes inside the engine, it's just sucking in outside air, with very minimal fumes.

Think of it as trying to vacuum a carpet. You will do a much better job with the vacuum if the hose has no leaks. It will pick up stuff like it's supposed to. Now imagine cutting a massive hole inside the hose, and then trying to clean the carpet. All the vacuum force created is lost at the hole, since it will be sucking air in from the outside rather than picking up dirt off the carpet.

All you would need to do, is either find a way to seal your catch can so it no longer has the breather, or buy a sealed one

    Hope you understand.

yeah that needs to be a sealed can. NOT a breather. Like mentioned the breather would be if it did NOT go back to the IM.

Okay so essentially the lines are run properly I would just need to plug the breather up to create a better vacuum? I have noticed my idle has been a bit uncontrolled as of late so I'm going to take a stab in the dark and say that might have something to do with it?

The intake is just powder coated. I am probably going to get it ported and polished before I start working on tuning it and turbo charging it over the next few months.
