Wax on GT side moldings

Mr. Clean Magic Eraser.... worked like a charm for me. This will get the wax off your side moldings and around the windows.

I heard about it at another forum and tried it on my '03 GT and it worked great.

I agree Mr Clean Majic eraser .... have to give credit to my wife for it though she uses it for cleaning the glasstop stove, she saw me trying to clean my moldings , walked out with the thing wiped the moldings down ... that quick...wiped the residue off with a damp cloth and they look new,....

I've used the same thing. extremely cheap, and works wonders.

it's also useful on your rims

but be careful with it on your paint or shiney/polished parts - it's pretty abrasive when you use pressure and will remove the clear coat really quick.

pretty much anywhere. I got mine at kroger (local grocery store) -- I bet wal-mart has them, if you live out in the middle of nowhere...

also note; for me it wasn't as easy as clean and wipe with a wet rag.... the residue will dry pretty fast and leave a cloudy water stain -- I had to wash the car around the trim to get it completely clean... but the mr. clean erasers definitely get rid of the salt and wax!

they come in a box of 2 (at least mine did) so pick up 2 boxes (they're cheap, 1 or 2 bucks). I only needed 1 sponge, but they're nice for other things around the house as well as kids toys, etc.

you'll need to get them pretty wet and foamy to be effective (use a bucket, treat it like a sponge). don't be freaked out - they tend to wear down pretty fast. if it turns grey, rinse it out... otherwise you end up smearing cloudy stuff.

it's easiest to go up and down in sections on the trim. put some elbow grease into it but be CAREFUL to NOT rub your paintjob...

also don't miss that triangular plastic section behind the rear windows on the hatchback.

Hey mine have the same but they are also scratched and faded a little so what would work . I have the Bondo restore black but it doesnt stay but for a couple of weeks. BOB

I know I'm reviving an old thread but I just wanted to say that using the magic eraser worked wonders at getting the wax off. my trim has never looked so good. after i got all the wax off i took a toothbrush and mothers back to black and scrubbed that stuff on and its looking good.

I used my vinyl protestant and it worked really good. I was surprised. I'm knew to cars almost entirely. But i cleaned up my baby and noticed the residue, and gave my interior cleaner a shot and it looks good. Dunno if it's permanent.

I used Turtle Wax ICE paste polish last week - it's actually made to go over moldings and trim as well as the paint. Did a great job shining up the black. Not sure how it will hold up, it's the first time using it after someone on another forum was raving about it (I ran out of 3M liquid wax, so figured I'd give it a shot).

liquid silicone the stuff you put on tires when washing to give a good shine to them. there are many brands out there put some on a towel and scrub the spot, the wax will soon disappear and the molding will be nice and shine lol

Tape performs, but you can also implement the returning to dark or other cut detail item to the cut first. This will secure the cut from the wax if it gets on it.
