    Default Gauges...

    Alright,

I've got a voltmeter and an a/f ratio gauge here...

Voltmeter: some people say to attach directly to car battery, some others do it on the dimmer switch. Which one?

A/F Ratio: I know you guys say that the wires to be tapped in are under the footrest. I haven't looked, but which are the ones that have to be tapped in?

Thanks! (I tried searching a bit but couldn't find this, I KNOW it's been spoken about somewhere I just couldn't find.)

that a/f ratio looks like a PITA, I'm pretty sure I read something about the o2 wires being run under the footrest or something similar. Then again, would it be the same color wire used? (green?)

alright.... I found out that it's ECU #43. Now, WHERE IS THAT?

I'm just soo bad when it comes to electronics

I have not tryed to install an A/F myself, but I have read that all hyundai's use a narrow band sensor, and you need a wide band sensor to use an A/F gauge properly. I'm not sure what type of gauge yours is, just sharing what I read.

This post I started a while back has some screenshots and a little bit of info on getting to the ecu (where the wires are located at to be tapped)

    Gauge is for narrowband sensors.

Mahonroy, alright. question: would you suggest me to splice into the wire itself, or just slide the wire inbetween the connector and the ECU (make it warranty friendly)?

Well, thats a tough one... when I was making my device, for testing purposes I just slid a wire into the harness...its way more pain in the *** than it sounds trust me, first off you have to have a really small gauge wire, secondly you have to bend the wire in a really wierd shape to get it to slide into the harness and not get pulled out when you slide the clip back in. and third you risk reliability doing this, as those small wires tend to break really easily, IMO I would say do it the right way and just tap off one of the wires comming off the ECU. As long as you do a good job you have nothing to worry about, and you can always unattach it later (besides, unless your ecu cooks, there is no reason why you would need to worry about a warrenty there). I would locate the wire, strip out a section wide enough so that you can wrap the air/fuel guage wire around it, saulder the connection, and then shrink wrap it.
