It seems like every couple weeks I'm posting these threads. Anyway, more Hyundai vehicles on "Top X" lists. Good for Hyundai.

HYUNDAI VEHICLES NAMED "BEST CARS FOR FAMILIES"
AAA AND PARENTS MAGAZINE RECOGNIZE SANTA FE AND ENTOURAGE FOR STANDARD SAFETY TECHNOLOGIES

FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif., 04/20/2007 AAA (American Automobile Association) and Parents magazine named the 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe and Entourage as two of 2007’s “Best Cars for Families.”

The 15-vehicle list, now in its fifth year, appears with detailed reviews of each model in the April issue of Parents magazine. AAA’s auto-safety experts and Parents’ editors – who understand the wants and needs of families – created a list of sedans, economy cars, vans, SUVs, and crossovers they felt perfectly met everyday family demands.

According to AAA/Parents’ judges, “The Santa Fe is packed with safety technology to protect your little ones, but the modest price tag leaves something for their college funds. Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and side-impact and side-curtain air bags are standard. Nice surprises include second-row A/C vents to keep your kids cool and a heated windshield wiper for melting through the ice.” After a road test with the Hyundai Santa Fe, Sally Lee, editor-in-chief of Parents magazine said, “I loved the easy-to-read instrument panel and the great storage space. Car seats were a breeze to install. It's a lot of car for the money -- and stylish too.”

AAA/Parents’ judges said, “No van has more standard safety features: Three-row side-curtain air bags, [electronic] stability control, and antilock brakes are all standard. So are the Entourage's three-zone climate-control system, power windows in the sliding doors, a flat-folding third row, and all the obligatory storage nooks. And how's this for value: Even if you opt for power rear doors and tailgate, heated front seats, leather upholstery, and wood-grain accents, you'll pay less than $30,000.”

“We are proud to accept recognition from two organizations that offer helpful information and advice to better the lives of consumers,” said John Krafcik, vice president of Strategic Planning and Product Development, Hyundai Motor America. “Santa Fe and Entourage are great examples of Hyundai’s continued commitment to providing affordable vehicles with standard life-saving technologies and convenience features that every family is looking for.”
Here's a link to Parents Magazine to see the entire list.

HYUNDAI NAMED "TOP 10 COOLEST NEW CAR UNDER $18,000"
2007 HYUNDAI TIBURON EARNS KELLEY BLUE BOOK HONORS FOR SPORTY STYLING AND AFFORDABILITY

FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif., 04/27/2007 Kelley Blue Book (www.kbb.com), the leading provider of new- and used-vehicle information, named the 2007 Hyundai Tiburon to its annual list of “Top 10 Coolest New Cars Under $18,000.”

The list includes the top 10 coolest and affordable new vehicles on the market. The editors at Kelley Blue Book focused on sporty stylishness and fuel economy, while thoroughly examining performance and fun-to-drive factor. Safety, environmental impact, interior size and comfort were also taken into account.

“Hyundai’s sporty Tiburon combines the presence of a $30,000 sports coupe with energetic driving dynamics and the value expected from the brand,” said Jack R. Nerad, executive editorial director and executive market analyst, Kelley Blue Book’s kbb.com. “Updates for the 2007 model year include freshened front and rear styling.”

The Tiburon offers life-saving active and passive safety features, track-inspired design and V6 performance handling of a sports coupe at a four-cylinder price. Kelley Blue Book editors chose the $18,000 price point as a logical demarcation of affordability.

“This recognition reinforces Hyundai’s commitment to providing terrific vehicles at affordable prices,” said John Krafcik, vice president of Strategic Planning and Product Development, Hyundai Motor America. “Tiburon is perfect for the enthusiast looking for an entry-level sports coupe with great quality and lots of standard safety features.”

HYUNDAI EARNS LARGEST OPINION IMPROVEMENT FROM AUTOPACIFIC
IMAGE CONSIDERATION AND TRACKING RESEARCH LISTS HYUNDAI HIGHER THAN NINE MANUFACTURERS

FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif., 05/09/2007 AutoPacific, an automotive consulting firm, reported Hyundai had the largest opinion improvement among nine manufacturers in its initial wave of Image and Consideration Tracking Research.

AutoPacific analysts stated, “The surprise (or not so surprising) winner of the most improved manufacturer was Hyundai Motor America. Comments surrounding the performance of Hyundai gave Hyundai credit for substantially improved styling, newly-found high durability/quality/reliability, a strong value message and a great warranty program. Positive comments outweighed negative comments by about four to one.”

Nine manufacturers were evaluated including, General Motors, Toyota, Ford Motor, Chrysler Group, Nissan, Honda, Hyundai, VW, and BMW. 1,254 panelists responded to an Internet survey concerning their opinion of automakers in the USA. The key question in the survey was whether the respondent's opinion of a manufacturer had changed since this time last year. Over 5,000 verbatim comments were collected in relation to opinion and attitude toward various aspects of a manufacturer’s image.

“In 2006, JD Power and Associates ranked Hyundai as the highest non-premium nameplate in its Initial Quality Study and BusinessWeek named us a top ‘100 Global Brand’ for 2006,” said John Krafcik, vice president of Strategic Planning and Product Development, Hyundai Motor America. “AutoPacific’s report that Hyundai now has the largest opinion improvement over nine competing manufacturers is another example of how Hyundai is continuing to improve brand image through its commitment to quality and value.”
Keep the good news coming. Good news + good new cars = more good news and more good cars. I like it.

More for the Entourage, Santa Fe, and Azera:

HYUNDAI AZERA, ENTOURAGE AND SANTA FE NAMED BEST-IN-SEGMENT IN STRATEGIC VISION 2007 TOTAL QUALITY INDEX

Fountain Valley, Calif., 06/04/2007 Hyundai Motor America produced the most segment leaders of any automotive manufacturer, according to Strategic Vision’s Total Quality Index™ (TQI), which measures total vehicle satisfaction among new car owners. Achieving the top slot in three distinct vehicle segments is a first for Hyundai. The Strategic Vision results released today placed the Hyundai Azera sedan atop the large car segment, the Entourage (tied with the Kia Sedona and Nissan Quest) in the top spot for the minivan segment and the Santa Fe on top in the small sport utility vehicle (SUV) segment.

“Hyundai’s success in 2007 is not surprising given its current products and press, as well as its leadership team who is looking strategically to the future with new designs from styling to powertrain,” reports Dr. Darrel Edwards, founder and CEO of San Diego-based Strategic Vision.

The Hyundai Santa Fe beat out competitors such as the Toyota FJ Cruiser and Jeep Wrangler 4-door for the top spot. The Hyundai Entourage minivan, which tied for first with the Kia Sedona and Nissan Quest, beat out the Honda Odyssey for the top slot, a position held by the Odyssey for the last five years.

“The Strategic Vision Total Quality Index demonstrates that Azera, Entourage, and Santa Fe are high-quality vehicles with terrific appeal,” said John Krafcik, vice president of Product Development and Strategic Planning. “At Hyundai we stand for great design, quality, safety, and outstanding value….and these study results show that consumers love this recipe.”

The Total Quality Index is the measurement of new vehicle owner satisfaction. The Strategic Vision poll surveyed more than 27,000 vehicle buyers who bought 2007 models in September, October and November of 2006. Consumers were asked an array of questions about their ownership experience, including buying, owning and driving their new vehicles. The Index 2007 results were based on ratings of new vehicle owners in 19 product categories.
Good news.

Santa Fe named a Top Safety Pick by the IIHS.

Arlington VA – The 2007 Santa Fe, a midsize SUV, meets the criteria to earn the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s TOP SAFETY PICK designation. The Santa Fe earned the top rating of good for front, side and rear crash protection and is equipped with electronic stability control (ESC). With the addition of the Santa Fe, 21 cars, SUVs, and minivans earn TOP SAFETY PICK status.

"The performance of the Santa Fe demonstrates Hyundai’s commitment to providing the highest level of safety to its customers," says Institute president Adrian Lund. The Hyundai Entourage and its twin, the Kia Sedona, also earned the TOP SAFETY PICK designation for minivans.

"Criteria to win the award are tough because they're intended to drive continued safety improvements such as high crash test ratings and rapid addition of ESC," says Lund.

The Santa Fe is equipped with standard side airbags designed to protect the heads of people in all three rows of seats and standard ESC. The Institute is recognizing vehicles with this award to help consumers distinguish the best overall choices without having to sort through multiple crash test results.

Redesign improves rear impact performance: Hyundai engineers redesigned the seat/head restraints in the Santa Fe to improve rear impact performance. The seats/head restraints in its predecessor model were rated poor overall. The new seats include "active" head restraints designed to move the restraints up and toward front seat occupants’ heads in a rear impact. Seats/head restraints in the new Santa Fe improve to good overall.

How vehicles are evaluated: The Institute's frontal crashworthiness evaluations are based on results of 40 mph frontal offset crash tests. Each vehicle's overall evaluation is based on measurements of intrusion into the occupant compartment, injury measures recorded on a Hybrid III dummy in the driver seat, and analysis of slow-motion film to assess how well the restraint system controlled dummy movement during the test.

Side evaluations are based on performance in a crash test in which the side of a vehicle is struck by a barrier moving at 31 mph. The barrier represents the front end of a pickup or SUV. Ratings reflect injury measures recorded on two instrumented SID-IIs dummies, assessment of head protection countermeasures, and the vehicle's structural performance during the impact. Injury measures obtained from the two dummies, one in the driver seat and the other in the back seat behind the driver, are used to determine the likelihood that a driver and/or passenger in a similar real-world crash would sustain serious injury to various parts of the body. The movements and contacts of the dummies' heads during the test also are evaluated. Structural performance is based on measurements indicating the amount of B-pillar intrusion into the occupant compartment.

Rear crash protection is rated according to a two-step procedure. Starting points for the ratings are measurements of head restraint geometry — the height of a restraint and its horizontal distance behind the back of the head of an average-size man. Seat/head restraints with good or acceptable geometry are tested dynamically using a dummy that measures forces on the neck.
Cool. People like safety, right?

HYUNDAI EARNS ANOTHER J.D. POWER AND ASSOCIATES APEAL AWARD
AZERA SEDAN TOPS ITS SEGMENT FOR SECOND YEAR IN A ROW

FOUNTAIN VALLEY, CALIF., 06/28/2007 J.D. Power and Associates announced today that Hyundai Azera once again topped the large car segment in the annual 2007 Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout StudySM (APEAL), which measures owner delight with the design, content, layout and performance of their new vehicles. The award represents the second consecutive year that Azera has topped the large car segment in the study. Outperforming several popular sedans, Azera received high marks for its interior, audio systems, seats, heating and air conditioning (HVAC), visibility and driving safety.

“Azera owners are impressed with the elegance and luxury of their car,” said Dave Zuchowski, Hyundai’s vice-president of National Sales. “This award further reinforces our brand philosophy about how smart consumers think about premium sedans. Clearly, the Azera raises the bar by combining safety, luxury and value like no other vehicle in its segment.”

In addition, the all-new Hyundai Entourage placed third in the van segment and the re-designed Hyundai Santa Fe mid-sized SUV increased its APEAL ranking well above the segment average, with a 56-point improvement over last year.

The Azera trophy case continues to grow with a number of honors and awards. It recently captured “Best in Class” for the sedans in the $25,000 to $30,000 category in Kiplinger’s Personal Finance “Best of 2007 Cars” awards and achieved the top slot in the large car segment in the Strategic Vision, Total Quality IndexTM (TQI) study, which measures the total vehicle satisfaction among new car owners. In addition, the Azera was named Edmunds.com “Editor's Most Wanted Sedan Under $30,000,” and was named a Consumer's Digest “Best Buy." The 2006 Azera earned the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s (IIHS) top crash test ratings for frontal offset impacts, aided by unsurpassed standard safety equipment like Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Anti-lock Brakes (ABS) and eight airbags.
