with a header do u have to take that plastic heat shield off?

and will it make the exhaust heat hotter?

There has been lots of useful talk about which cai models will fit the newer elantras. Im still not clear on how to install the maf sensor. do i have to put a hole in the piping?God i hope not...

Actually, the under heat temp should drop with a good set of ceramic coated headers. They will actually transfer the heat to the rest of the exhaust system. Good question.

It depends on the header, but a ceramic header will help to keep the heat inside as apposed to radiating it under the hood, but with out the coating, there could be more heat overall under the hood than the iron stock unit with a heat shield. Now that cast iron piece in stock cars is fairly thick so it doesnt change heat as quickly so a quick run or two wont change the heat as fast as a thinner pipe like tubular headers, however the tubular design will cool faster. Im a big fan of ceramic coating and plan to do my whole turbo system with it.
