would 235/45/17 work on our cars or shoudl i just get 215/45/17 or maybe just get 215/40/17 i'm going to lower my car but i'm not sure what tire size to get on it. what is the biggest size tire we can put in our cars with out major rubbing issues?

Depends on the car. sedan or hatch. I had problems with 215/45/17 rubbing in the back on the hatch(even after rolling the fenders). 235/45/17 not a chance without major modification. 215/40/17 was what I was going to try next but I got a deal(sorta) on some 205/40/17 so that is what is on the car now

I have 215-45's on my sedan, and no problems at all.

I would think that with a 40mm offset wheel, you could fit a 215/45/17 in there and avoid rubbing issues as long as when you lower it you either get coilovers or upgrade to stiffer shocks.
