I don't know if this has come up before, but how about a carbon fiber sunroof? I would think there are people who have moonroofs (the only way to get ABS on the XD I think) and don't appreciate having like 20lbs of glass at the very top of the car. Myself, I like the slide/tilt functionality just fine, but it doesn't have to be transparent even. It could be Lexan or just CF. I'm pretty cheap but it would be tempting depending on price, and I thought I'd throw it out there. Not to mention the moonroof has to be one of the simplest shapes imaginable and would be easy to ship. How much could it possibly cost, carbonman?

Thanks. Shipping is Ok but the part's expensive! $375 for a rectangle with rounded corners? And it still weighs 9lbs? Wow.

I believe it's the same size...so it should fit. I would ask craig, he would know for sure.

The panel in the picture is on Craig's own personal XD. I have asked him to make me one, in a one-off capacity, and he said no problem.

All you have to do is send him a template out of poster board/card board of the shape, take some measurements, and he'll do it for you.

The one he sells is ONLY for the Tiburon, but the idea came after he had created the one in the pic for himself.

Well if he did it on his XD, why would he need measurements?

no that one is from a TIB
I don't have a SR in my elantra.

The CF version WEIGHS 5 lbs, not 9, you save 9lbs just by replacing the panel. You can save ALOT more by removing the internals too.

Why the price. Because its NOT just a flat sheet of carbon with rounded corners. THe frame section is identical to the OEM frame and still operates as OEM aswell. THere is a lot of work that goes into just one of these things. Believe me they are alot harder to make than a flipping hood even
The top section is multiple layers of CF as well being bonded to a special foam core panel to achieve proper thickness without adding weight while increasing the stiffness.

Sorry if I'm coming off strong, I've still got a bad taste in my mouth from the original sets of these.

Yeah, I've never questioned Craig's prices. I've bought enough from him to know that every penny is worth it. You won't find that kind of quality of craftsmanship anywhere else.

so does this mean you will make them for the elantra? lol

i guess we'll finish the hood project first!
