My wife has a Magellan GPS and the windshield mount holds the device power. I would like the power to run down the site of the steering column to the fuse box and hardwire it there. Does the fuse box provide any open and usable power connectors where I could tap into? If not where can I tap into the power to do this?

Thanks in advance.

Seems like it would certainly be possible. Usually on the back of the panel that allows you to get to where the fuses are will show which fuse does what and which ones are blanks.

did you try opening the fuse box to look?
most of the time the cigarette plug houses electronics in the plug. You may have to be careful just cutting it off or you might end up with a paper weight. My suggestion is buy a cigerette lighter splitter (try radio shack) and solder it to the cigerette lighter wires underneath the consol from behind. string the wire behing the dash and plug it in behind the consol.

cut the end off of this and solder...
