Here's an e-mail I recieved a few days ago.

Dear Axel,

We do have a Supercharger kit for your 2004 Elantra. The price is USD $2900 + shipping. Power is improved from 104wHP to 162wHP. The kit is complete with all parts required and full install instructions.

Please note that there is a price increase at the end of December of +/- $130. If you order before the 24th of December you will get the price of USD $2900.

Kind regards

The HP and TRQ figures he gave seem kinda odd/low. But it may not have been a Dynojet mashine....I dunno. Last I checked, a stock XD was about 15 HP higher than that.

You are right, it seems that the stock figures aren't correct. Like you mention, it could have not been on a Dynojet. I don't know why a company making and selling superchargers and turbochargers wouldn't dyno their products on a Dynojet as it seems to be the industy standard. Oh wells.

Also, how's it possible that they have it in stock and ready to ship but Ford has been waiting for his for more than a little while now? I understand it's for the CVVT Beta II's, but that still doesn't seem right to me.

Or perhaps the low numbers are because the car might be "faulty" and not on top of its game at that time of dyno..

no, there is nothing wrong with their dyno.. they are using a different type of dyno machine that reads much lower than dynojets.

Also, they might have some of the 04 kits ready to ship because they made a bunch of them for magazine articles and show-cars @ sema...

They use a dyno pack which bolts up to the hubs. SO in sense its more accurate and can put a more accurate load on on it. But debates are endless on what Dynos are the most accurate and what not. I think John is basing the dyno numbers on my car. Not sure if he actually dynoed a beta II motor with the s/c. Going from 104whp to 160 whp is quite an improvement especially if the boost is at 4psi and using a M45 roots blower and no intercooler or aquacooler.
Ford will be getting his soon so we will see what gains he gets on his BetaII.

As long as the same dyno is used, then who cares what the base line is, the power increase is whats important. The most accurate dynos are the large water break dynos that are rare and mostly only used by manufacturers. The dynapack does take out wheels weights from the equations though.

'Power is improved from 104wHP to 162wHP'

Notice WHP, wheel horsepower. Hyundai's engine benchmarks are at the crank, somewhat of a marketing ploy. In the end you lose alot of that to friction b4 the wheels ever touch the ground, roughly 25% BHP is lost to drivetrain friction

What we were saying is that stock WHP power is usually around 114-120 on a Dynojet(If I'm recalling correctly). That's why I figured he must be a different type of dyno, and it apparently it is.

So what's stopping you from ordering it 2004ElantraGLS?

What's stopping me? How about the price tag? I also have to factor in the shipping costs, and probably a Stage 3 clutch. That brings it in the neighborhood of $3400. I'll have that much money in the spring(Income tax + savings acct.), but I can't justify blowing all that money on my car. I have sole custody of my two kids, and they come first.

Naw, I'll probably have to stick with N/A mods. I'm ordering a Header today, and will be getting my entire exhaust done in a few weeks. After that come a set of rims/tires, and some other small stuff. That's probably all I'll be able to do. But you never know...

Till then, I'll just keep dreaming about all the cool **** I'd like to do to my car. After all, we all should have dreams, right?

I can understand that (well, the part about not having money for such a project, not about having kids). I was mistakenly under the impression that you were about to order, sorry.
